When I bought this, it didn't come with the 4 ball studs. I think they updated this product since I bought it, which is good, because the GS400 we replaced this on is almost 30 years old and had the original hood struts without the easy release. The whole thing including the studs had to come out. Once removed and new studs were in place, SUPER easy install. Literally just popped it in! ... show more

I got tired of using a stick to hold up my hood and after who knows how long of procrastination I finally ordered these took 5-10 min to install and they work great and as someone who tinkers with cars I like that they’re easier to remove and install when you need that extra room under the hood

Easy to install. Fits perfectly to my husbands 98 lexuz gs300. Durability is hard to tell cuz he just installed so he just rated all a 5 star. Hopefully it lasts.

The main reason I ordered these hood struts is the picture in their listing showed it came with the ball ends. This GS300 still had the factory hood struts which have the ball ends pressed in during the manufacturing process. When I opened the brand new sealed package, it only came with the hood struts and screw in attachments. See the picture. So I had to remove the ball ends from the factory hood struts so I could re-use them. See picture. What should've been a 5 minute job turned into a 45 minute job. If all the parts would've come as advertised, all you need to do this job is a wrench and flat blade screwdriver. Since it doesn't come with all the parts as advertised, to complete this job you will need, a wrench, flat blade screwdriver, needle nose pliers, a bench vise, grinder with a cut-off wheel, safety glasses or preferably a face shield, leather work gloves, and a steady hand. I have a pretty steady hand and still managed to booger up 2 of the 4 ball ends. Luckily it wasn't too bad and I was still able to re-use them. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER! ... show more

    • 12mm wrench is needed, screw in 1st to hood and snap the strut afterwards
Great value compared to Autozone or Oreilys , but no instructions (for the ones who need it) use YouTube lol, and no washers but other than that it was a very easy install thank you !(:

    • Gets the job done!
Super easy to install. Took less then 10 minutes! So far they work good. No idea of longevity. Will update if they fail quickly.
