Starbucks French Roast has a strong smoky taste that I have not been able to find in any other coffee. Have tried several. Keep coming back to Starbucks French roast. My local Walmart has not had the beans lately, so seems everyone likes French roast. Or maybe Starbucks is not producing as much. A few other companies have almost as good, and I do think the drinks in the Starbucks store are overrated and over priced, I will buy this one as long as I can. ... show more

I have used these Starbucks French Roast beans for years now in a Saeco superauto espresso machine to create my morning latte. The beans may be a bit more expensive compared to other brands, but I really like the flavor and aroma. Generally, I buy this two-pack and they last for a few weeks. Sometimes one of the bags doesn't quite retain its hard, tight state (which tells you the vacuum seal is still intact) and is, shall we say, "squishable." But when opened, the beans still seem quite fresh and smell wonderful. Some espresso machine manufacturers actually advise against using beans so fresh they still retain their shiny appearance, due to the oiliness factor. But I transfer a bagful to a tall tupperware container and let them dry a bit before use. ... show more
