This newer hobby on the market is fun, and produces something worthy of framing and hanging. You can say that your time was spent creating the final result. It is a nice gift for anyone who has patients handling small parts or completing puzzles or paint-by-numbers. Here are some things I learned with this being my first puzzle. A roller is required to get all the diamonds to settle into place. The colors are not in ziplock bags. Once cut open, you cannot reseal them. This means that all essential tools are not included in the actual painting kit...just the minimum - diamonds, one tray for holding your working color, and one pen to place colors. I find that this is not acceptable, especially with the price point of some of these puzzles. If I were paying $5 or less, I could understand, but $12 or more per painting should include ALL essential tools, especially something to contain the diamonds - like inexpensive, small ziplock bags. Also, when selecting a puzzle, companies should include a pixelated version of the painting. This particular puzzle does not look as detailed with the diamonds as it does in the photograph version, which is misleading, in my opinion. It is a learning curve. Look for companies that include a pixelated template photo so you can determine how much detail is lost with the diamond version. The branches in this painting are just blobs of color. I think it is still pretty, but not as advertised with the photograph version used to sell the diamond version. When shopping, the smaller the size of the picture, the less detail can be included, so don't get highly detailed, small (11"x16" is small) pictures if you want details. The large diamond pictures are grossly overpriced. I would have to be really in love with the art to want to spend the $40+ to get the details. There is a kit you can purchase that is priced at $6.99. It includes several pens, roller, ziplocks, plastic case for diamond storage, and one mediocre tweezer. It is sufficient for completing any puzzle and not losing diamonds, and having the diamonds permanently squished in place. I cannot link it here, but just look for 5D diamond Kits and you will find many kids ranging up to $30 with a light board that will shine through so you can clearly see the demarcations for diamond colors without glare. Always read all reviews. I hope this helps. I have purchased two more - hot air balloons, and Iris Flowers. The details are much better for the completed project. I will review these when I complete them. This is a calming and mindless activity for home bound people like myself. I listen to audio books and draw, color, write, paint, crochet, knit, and now I have 5D painting for the mindless evenings. ... show more

I'm Bella.The patent for what we think of as diamond painting was filed in 2010 by a China-based company called Guangdong Dazu Yueming Laser Technology Co., Ltd. Previously, a similar product existed in which plastic beads were placed on velvet to create an image. Paint by diamond can also help with mental health. Much like coloring books and puzzles, diamond art is a wonderful way to reduce stress and anxiety. A type of mindfulness-based art therapy (MBAT), diamond painting can be considered an art that helps you meditate. By creating a quiet and peaceful environment, it can take away sadness, worry and even reduce anger. There are some negative things about this product but overall it's really fun. It keeps me focused on one project at a time. It's a cool family product too. It also keeps you focused on it for a long period of time. Another thing that is great about this is you don't need glue. I thought it would come with glue. That was my one worry about this. But when I got it I felt the paper and it was sticky. I was so happy because then I didn't have to worry about putting on too much glue or too little. I only have about two reasons why I don't like this product. One reason why I don't like this product as much is because of the way the diamonds are packed. They are packaged in tiny bags. You have to be really careful when you are pulling the packets apart. I already ripped a bag by trying to get it apart from another bag. The diamonds scattered all over my room and made a mess. I picked up as much as I could but I know that I don't have all of them. Another thing that sucks about this product is when you are doing it, sense you are looking down it can really hurt the back of your neck. In all this product is AWESOME! After I'm done with the one I have now I am definitely going to buy more. This product went way past my expectations, that's why I gave it a 5 out of 5. ... show more
