What I like about this tape is that it is thin and very sticky, but because it has the mesh reinforcement it can be removed even after some time without tearing into pieces. I hate using double-sided foam tape on any surface that I can't later flood with solvents if I need to completely remove it. This tape will take the place of foam tape in many applications. This "tape" is very much like just the adhesive part of duct tape but without the covering. It's an uncoated sticky mesh than comes off the roll with peel-off protective plastic on both sides. It is useful as hold-down tape for thin wood or metal sheets used for machining or engraving. The main downside compared to foam tape is that it is by comparison quite thin and if your mating surfaces are uneven it does not have the ability to fill gaps. It's not as thick as normal mesh carpet tape but it is much stickier, and I suppose if you are talking about foam-backed carpet you could call this a carpet tape. But mainly I see this as a means of sticking flexible or close-fitting rigid objects together, and the tape won't require a chisel and acetone to remove. This is a good price for two rolls and a good tape to have on hand.

This duo of 2 Packs Double Sided Fiberglass Mesh Tape 66 FT - 2 Inch + 1 Inch Heavy Duty Tape Adhesive Tape Set with Industrial Grade Mesh for Mounting Carpets, Pictures is a great find. The tape itself is quite thin, yet it really grips. I like that it comes in two different sizes. Each roll is wrapped in a cellophane bag. (Note: Be sure to keep the bag for storage since the sides of the rolls are so sticky, it grabs anything it’s next to, including the drawer you’d put it in). I wanted to secure a very large picture frame that always hangs crooked on the wall. I cut a small piece and mounted it on one of the lower corners, and boy did it work. That frame is firmly in place, nice and level… and because the tape is so thin, there’s no visible gap. One thing I found is that it’s quite hard to pull up the corner to peel the paper backing off the tape; next time I will track down a set of precision tweezers I have to make it easier. But really glad I ordered this, it’s a solid performer.

I have two doormats in a spot that shares an entrance with a breezeway that stays open most of the time, so if the wind that day hits above 10mph, from the right angle, which happens a lot, those carpets wind up rumpled and blown a few feet away. Now, for those of you who share space with other people where you do one particular chore and, for the most part, others don't ever do that chore, it can make me feel a little batty that I'm the only one fixing the rugs even though the other house members clearly like having them and find them useful. This, this rug tape. It does work. I like that I can throw them in the wash and if the tape doesn't come off, I can just reapply new tape and then maybe someday tear off the other tape, if any, that's sticking. I don't think that would be an issue because I wash them every couple of weeks, but maybe if they were baking in the sun, or left for months, maybe the adhesive would be an issue even after going through the washing machine. That being said, the paper backing should be thicker. I applied 8 long pieces of tape, four each to two doormats, and I probably had to deal with picking off 5 torn paper backings. Some, I could pull from the other direction and it would come off easily. But if it tore from the other direction too, oooo, it would fight me about coming off and want to come off the rug backing and get tangled. Thicker paper backing, please. Fed-up with our small bathroom/kitchen mats sliding around on the tile/hardwood floors, even after slipping a mesh grip-pad material underneath, I applied this1" mesh- tape around the bottom-side of a braided oval rug's 20" x 30" perimeter and then slapped-on the grip-pad. No initial problems with adhesion to either surface so I expect the grip-mat should stay outta-sight under the rug while I'm also expecting the thin-tape's adhesive not to bleed thru onto the floor like some of the thicker rug adhesive tapes I have used in the past. Only a minor difficulty peeling off the protective backing, but that's to be expected if you happen to have chewed-off all your fingernails and don't have tweezers on stand-by duty. I'll try the 2' roll on bigger projects as they arise, so, no negatives to report here at this time.

I chose this tape for hanging vinyl banners along a metal rail outdoors and WOW does it hold in place! The metal rail is powder coated and I was concerned this tape might chip the paint but not at all! It holds the vinyl banner on the metal and at the end of the event, the banner peeled away from the tape then the tape was pulled from the metal and balled up for disposal. This tape does require scissors or a blade to cut. It will not tear with fingers. The strength of the fiberglass can be seen within the tape itself. Paper backing peels off easily. Cut the length you desire, put the exposed sticky side to the location, press firmly, THEN peel off the paper to expose the opposing adhesive side. Once in place with paper removed, tape is clear. Great choice for easy hanging of items. Do a small test patch in your area first to assure the tape will not cause damage.
