First of all, we did not use this for a "live" plant. We wanted something that could be used for our topiary. We added some rocks inside to keep it from tipping over because it is top heavy, which we made heavier by adding our topiary (with its own pot) to it. We also added some rocks on the top. The color choice (bronze), style and design worked out perfectly for what we wanted to use it for. We're happy with it.

I love these pots. The concept is great for self watering. Comes with everything you need except the water gauge. Just be cautious where you place them. My small dog, 12 pounder, knocked one over just passing by it. You get the container pots, inner pots, cotton wicks, even had an extra one, and a bag of leca. Quick shipping and well packaged. *** Update. After getting knocked over twice, need to put where no one will walk by it and put marbles in the bottom to weigh it down. Good deep planter if you have something that doesn't have a shallow root system.

I didn’t realize these planters were only about half the depth when assembled. I was hoping for a deep planter. However, there is another section that sits inside the outer pot which I didn’t realize upon purchasing. It allows the pot to become self watering.

I love love love these self watering pots. They are a lifesaver for me as now i dont have to have someone babysit my African Violets when i travel!! The African Violet plants are special to me as they were a gift from my son at a young age. They are amazing and wish i knew about these self watering pots before way before now! Perfect for the African Violet plants and they Love them too!!! Good job on whoever designed them. I bought two!! Buy these if you are trying to decide. You wont regret it!

These have NO hole in top to water the plant for self watering. You must remove the insert WITH the plant to put water in the base. The part holding the plant is 1/4 the size of the base. What a waste. I WOULD NOT recommend these.
