Fridge, trash can, dog food container, drawers. My dogs are as talented as Houdini, but not bright enough to understand that they shouldn't eat…..everything. I have come back to an empty fridge with pounds of food missing. Trash bags out of the cans, and all over the room. Pill bottles chewed and pills all over the floor. While they seek pill bottles out like toys, they (thank god) have never eaten the pills. They have however (many times), eaten foil wrappers on food. Chewed and eaten entire wooden spoons. We got lucky as hell that they never had any complications, and that we have amazing vets as consultants. I tried piling things in front of all danger areas. Sometimes they would break through. Sometimes I’d forget. It wasn’t a long term solution. And neither was crating them, as they are so anxious they have broke several teeth on the bars, even on anxiety meds. For the past 4 years, I have used these to dog proof everything. And I think they are the only reason my dogs have never seriously injured themselves by eating something they shouldn’t. Their attention has been focused to approved bones and toys, now that they know the trash, fridge, and drawers are not accessible. They are much happier having free range of a dog proofed kitchen/living room than being in crates all day. And the panicked trips to the vet are over. My only complaint is that I wish they came with more keys. Or the option to buy spare keys separately. The locks work long term, but the keys are small and easy to lose.

I got these to lock up my fridge at night. My kids (6 & 4) would get up in the wee hours of the morning and eat anything and everything in there. I’ve discovered them eating raw bacon, egg shells scattered all over their room, applesauce in their beds, empty milk jugs and juice containers under the table, yogurt cups hidden in cabinets… you get the idea. We were spending way more on groceries every month than I had budgeted. I first tried the keyed version of this and they discovered if they took my car key and jammed it in it would unlock. This one took them a little longer to figure out. I stuck the magnet key on the ceiling in the middle of the kitchen (husband and I are both tall enough to touch our 8’ ceilings). That worked until last night. I woke up this morning to find they had stacked their step stool onto a chair to reach it… I’m throwing the step stool behind the freezer in the garage… smh Anyways… pros: stickiness is strong and so it the cord and magnet. Lock is easy to use. Cons: one of the magnet keys fell out of my hand and broke on the first landing.

Installed it on our fridge. My 2yr old broke the first one with no effort. So we thought okay that sucks maybe that one was faulty or bad. So installed the other (cause it comes with two) and my four year old walked up without even knowing about the lock and opened the fridge fairly easily and the second one broke. Extremely disappointed. Ps thud is the first review I’ve ever wrote in years of using Amazon because this product was so bad. DO NOT BUY!!!!

We used these to lock my upright freezer so it wouldn’t get left open by my FIL with Dementia who opened it every time he went into the garage. Also to lock the fridge in the garage so he wouldn’t drink a case of Pepsi a day! They worked great. Just make sure you get them installed so that all you have to do is touch it lock with the magnet and pull on the door. This will make it easier for you to open.

This lock works fairly well. It can very hard to unlock though. I usually have to jiggle the cord and pull while the magnet is on top. It can be frustrating.
