Model: ME-T500+B620
M&E and KATOOL tire machines and balancers are made by the same Chinese manufacturer. The American importers/sellers include Motool Technology LLC, Rainier Engineering Ltd, and Top One Trade Inc. I purchased the ME-T500 tire machine and the ME-620T balancer. For the balancers, the major differences I see are the Control Panel and an optional laser pointer. I added my own laser pointer for $20 (search “Wheel Balancer Locator” on Amazon). The ME-620T does have the ALUS mode, which uses the measuring bar to place the weights in specific locations, as opposed to the preset locations of the ALU1, ALU2, and ALU3 modes. The tire machines can have either no assist arms or 2 or 3 depending upon the model. Other options include a bead blaster tire inflater. I did add a universal left assist arm to mine but I was able to change lower profile tires without one (see further below). For the balancer, the instructions state to put the cone on the outside of the wheel but the commercial machines (Coats) say to always put the cone on the inside if you can. You can use the cone on the outside but only when the inside won’t work. Most modern wheels are hub centric so using the cone on the inside is best since that's where the wheel is actually centered on the vehicle and it is a machined surface. Using the cone on the outside may not provide a good machined surface for centering (the front hub on my wheels are not machined and are painted). With the cone on the inside, the M&E balancer faceplate will move inward when you tighten the wingnut on the wheel (the faceplate hub is spring loaded). Just make sure the wheel sits firmly against the balancer faceplate after tightening. You can check by trying to slide a piece of paper between the wheel and faceplate once tightened. I had one set of wheels where the spring loaded hub bottomed out before the wheel touched the faceplate, so I removed about 0.250" of material from the back of the cone with a lathe. You can also try using a wheel spacer to fill the faceplate gap but make sure it’s properly centered so it doesn’t throw off your measurements (spacer ‎911130T-A will fit). My old school vehicles use lug centric wheels. They do make adapters for lug centric balancing but using the inside cone method worked good on my American Racing and Voxx lug centric wheels. The tire machine is actually labeled ME-T500N on the crate. This is the North American model and per the written description, uses a 1.5hp motor to rotate the platform (not 2hp as shown in the listing title). I had no problem removing/installing 20 year old tires from steel wheels without lubricant. Assembly is very easy and obvious, with just the swing arm stand and tire shovel needing to be attached. Make sure the duck head and swing arm pivot pin fasteners are tight though. Without an assist arm, I was able to dismount 235/45ZR18 tires from the back side of aluminum wheels. The wheels are 8 inch with zero offset so dismounting from the front side was not possible because I could not push the tire down past the bead set and into the barrel area. Removing from the back side was easy and I used “QWORK Tire Changer Bead Clamps” to push the tire into the barrel area (highly recommend these vs. the spring loaded ones). Use a rim protector (see below) just in case your tire iron slips off the duck head. The machine comes with spare plastic protectors for the duck head, a tire iron, and you’ll find replacement jaw covers on Amazon. I then added a left assist arm (search for “Tire Wheel Changer Machine Left Auxiliary Arm Wheel Repair Assist Mounting” on another website). This assist arm comes with a pivot pin meant to replace a 36mm swing arm pivot pin. The M&E pivot pin is smaller so I just cut the 36mm portion off the pin and welded the top portion to the nut holding the M&E pivot pin in place. Easy and strong and it works great. If you want to try other types of assist devices, look at Coats tire machine accessories for ideas. I also purchased a “Moonet PVC Leather Spare Tire Wheel Cover Diameter 27-29 inch” to cover the platform when not in use. Other accessories I ordered from Amazon are 1) a plastic “Wheel Weight Chisel Scraper”, 2) “AICEL Car Tire Changing Rim Protectors”, 3) “AGS Ru-Glyde Tire Mounting Paste”, 4) “SUNSOUL Wooden Handle Angled Tire Mounting Paste Lube Brush”, 5) “CKAuto Valve Stem Puller/Installer with Rubber Boot”, and 6) “CKAuto 1/4oz, 0.25oz, Grey, Adhesive Stick on Wheel Weights”. Overall, I think both machines are perfect for a DIY person and the bundled price is the cheapest. I first looked at used Coats and Hunter machines but they were much more expensive and always pretty beat up. The M&E build quality is good but the translated instructions are horrible (display the “fetal mouth input”). There are YouTube videos (Coats are best for tire machines) and other brands user manuals which will help you, like KATOOL, Mayflower, XK, and Coats. Seller Motool had good communication, they arranged liftgate delivery at no extra charge, and delivery was early (Chicago area). And for even more useless information, M&E and KATOOL resellers are being sued by Demax USA for patent infringement related to their tire machines. Demax sells the XK brand (XingKong) tire machines and Demax is also suing Mayflower over their tire changers. A Chinese company suing other Chinese companies for copying :) ... show more

  • I'd buy it again.
Model: ME-T500+B620
I have used this a few times now. The balancer takes a little getting used to but it works well. If you know how to use a tire machine and balancer then you will easily know how to use these. The tire machine works as good as any Coats machine I've ever used. It doesn't have a built a bead blaster but that saves $$$, I'm sure. I'm glad I bought it. I think it's good value for the money. It seems well built and durable. It was easy to setup. ... show more

  • I have been changing tires by hand like a sucker! I have been changing tires by hand like a sucker!
Model: ME-T500+B620
Never again will I throw a tire onto th grass and struggle to break the bead with a 2x4 and another car or a shop press. No more wishing I had 3 hands and a 3rd pry bar. No more struggle. The first day after install I replaced just 2 tires to figure out how to do it a couple different ways and figure out the different balancing features (YouTube certified mechanic). The next day I was able to swap 6 tires in an hour balancing and all. And I know I could do it in 5 min each if I rushed. I'm never going back. ... show more

  • Falsely labeled Falsely labeled
Model: ME-T500+B620
The tire machine is falsely labeled on the lever that spins the tire!! It says/shows that you can spin the tire, clockwise and counterclockwise when mounting the tire yet the machine does not do so. Only spinning clockwise. The tire machine does not have air blast to air up the tires, so it’s extremely difficult to get the tire to seat to the tire to the rim without that function ... show more
