  • Worked as designed.
Size: 4 Pack Color: Green
I purchased an arbor and added these anchors at the base of it. We have had a few days with gale force winds since I installed them and the arbor has held steady.

  • Great Idea, but Only One Installation Method Worked for Me
Size: 6 Pack Color: Black
I purchased these anchors to secure a sunshade in my driveway, and they proved effective for that purpose. Despite the product page illustrating three different installation methods, only the first method worked for me. This involved using a metal pipe to slowly screw the anchor into the ground. I attempted to use power tools, but on semi-rocky terrain, it caused too many unpredictable movements that could easily damage the tool. The material quality is good, and I believe this will be a durable solution once securely installed. However, it’s worth noting that in many scenarios, this may require some elbow grease, and the installation may not be as elegant as illustrated on the product page. Overall, it offers great value for money, as without these anchors, I wouldn’t have been able to complete my project. ... show more

  • Used for popup canopy stakes at a farmers market.
Size: 6 Pack Color: Black
These stake come in handy for tying down a popup tent in a grassy or dirt area. We used them at a weekly farmers market for a few months and they were better than hauling around weights. They moved the farmers market to a parking lot so we cant use them for the ten anymore. I can say that after 20 or more uses, they are still is good shape and work good. Just make sure and take a drill driver to make it easier to install them. ... show more

  • Seems heavy duty
Size: 4 Pack Color: Black
My husband used these to setup a perimeter around our new garden bed. It helped hold up poles and chicken wire fencing. My husband also pulled the connectors really tight. He did have a few problems when we needed to relocate one of the poles. Once it's in, it's in! It seems very solid. It didn't bend. We have heavy clay soil and the rods went in without too much of a problem. My husband said he liked these. ... show more

  • Generally well made.
Size: 4 Pack Color: Black
I'm a perfectionist, who tends to think that if a thing has been quite well done, one ought to try to bring it closer to excellence. These are nice "anchors" though I think of them as "augers." As long-term anchors in a wet climate, these would probably fail. Steel corrodes. They are also imperfect as augers, and there are too many of them. One good auger will do. I had a project that involved digging a fairly deep hole for a 4x4 post. The post would have a lot of imbalanced stress upon it, and I was unable to make it satisfactorily deep using a post-hole shovel and a digging bar. But I was reluctant to go to an equipment rental place to rent a big gas-powered post-hole digger for just one hole. Then I saw these "anchors." The leading edge of the anchor spiral is blunt. Using an angle grinder, I sharpened it. The bottom point was just an angle cut. I tried to make it more like a screw point. Using it to auger earth deeply was complicated. The anchor shaft has a nice hex head, that a socket will fit on, but the shaft of the auger isn't by itself long enough. If a socket is put upon the auger shaft with a socket extension bar, using an ordinary 3/8" system, the far end of the extension won't fit within the head of a 1/2" drill chuck, much less a 3/8" drill chuck. I got around that by using a couple of much weaker 1/4" extensions, the heads of which could fit within a 1/2" drill chuck. They were amply strong for the task. My narrow but sharpened auger eagerly dove into the earth. I was then able to use a digging bar, and my long arm, buried to the shoulder, to extract enough soil and rock for my needs. ... show more

  • A great idea, but not for rocky soils
Size: 6 Pack Color: Black
The media could not be loaded. These anchors are well made and sturdy. Note that the included 11mm socket provided to use these with a drill is a very tight fit (I suspect due to the paint coating on the stakes) and it is hard to get the socket on without scraping the paint off. If you plan on using a drill, make sure you have one that will drive these in slowly. If you do it too quickly, it acts more like an auger and just cleans out the hole and augers all the dirt to the top of the hole and leaves you with a 3" diameter hole and the anchor will not hold well. Drilling slow is the key. Also, these are not well suited to ground with a lot of buried rocks. Since the "screw thread" is quite big, it tends to grab rocks and gets stuck - creating quite a lot of torque on the drill - be careful. Unfortunately, all the ground around my place is rocky, but I suspect that these would work well in areas without rocks. I plan on using them on camping trips where (hopefully) there will be a lot fewer buried rocks. ... show more
