Fairly thick plastic sections that clip together and should hold up for a few years if not stepped on or roughly treated. It is not flexible. I snapped one piece in half when I tried to straighten what I perceived to be a slightly bent section.

I really like these and thought they would work with me watering the ground and then planting each of them. However, the plastic is not sturdy enough, even with the wet ground. It felt like the stake would break.

I remember reading a review that said these were pretty flimsy. And indeed they are. I got them to work but not without a lot of effort. The stake in particular is so flexible that it was very difficult to pound it into my soil (lots of clay). Many times I had to dig a hole for the stake to get it into the ground without breaking it - which I did on one unit early in the installation process. They look OK after installation but they're fragile and I don't think they're going to hold up more than a year. And if they border your lawn, as mine do, don't even bump them with your mower; they dislodge easily. Bottom line I would not get these again. And if you have soil that contains a fair amount of clay, just be aware that you're going to put in some extra hole digging time. ... show more

I purchased these to provide a barrier to a newly planted pecan tree. I just needed a nice visual to help make people aware the 2 foot tree was there so they wouldn't trample it. I placed the pieces in a circle around the newly planted tree. I found the cobblestone to look just like the picture. It was easy to assemble and place in the ground. I did dig a hole to place each support rod that extends from each piece into the ground because it is plastic and I didn't want to risk bending or breaking the plastic. I have had that happen before when purchasing similar plastic borders. Then I filled and packed the sand back in for support. Then I added mulch around the tree that went to the top of the border. That way you don't see the back side and the mulch looks nice around the tree besides all the other benefits of using mulch in gardens. I have had the border for four months now and haven't had any problems with it at all. It has held together in a circle without any adjustments to it as well as staying firmly in the ground. ... show more

The concept is nice is the only reason I am giving even one star. The product is cheaply made and it was impossible for me to install them. The direction you slide the pieces together was upside down so you must connect them before "trying" to get them in the ground. When pushing them down the stake part would Crack off. I asked for a refund and was told I needed to return the product even with it being broken. ... show more
