  • Thinking about getting a second one. Has already proved its worth three times over
Color: Orange
Having used a DIY incubator, humidity has been tough to manage. I used this incubator for lockdown and it worked really well. The only thing I would change would be to remove the chicks to the brooder rather than leaving them in, because they tripped over eggs so much that I wound up having two eggs died that were set to hatch (based on movement during candling.) I did have one chick have a foot issue where I had to isolate her and make a special brace for her toe and foot, as well as hobble for splay leg. While she got to come out of the incubator several times a day, having the incubator as an isolation pod was perfect. She had enough room, on her own, to walk around, eat and drink, but also got heat and humidity to be comfortable since she didn't have a bunch of chicks to huddle with. Shortly after that, we had a chick with a medical issue who sadly passed, but having the incubator as a way to have her in our bedroom and keep a close eye on her was helpful as we tried different approaches. Only issues I can think of is to not fill the bottles all the way. They free feed into the bottom of the incubator and lowering humidity can be a struggle. The little vent that can be opened or closed needs a second one, as I did find it hard to lower humidity a couple of times, even with the vent all the way open. The beeping noise can also be annoying but you can turn if off if you have to remove the lid for awhile (or put down on the carpet so that the area under the thermometer warms up still.) I'm really happy with this and actually thinking about getting a second to isolate eggs when I am hatching multiple chicken breeds, so I can keep track of which eggs hatched which chickens. ... show more

  • GREAT little incubator! Immediately bought another!
Color: Orange
The media could not be loaded. This is by far the best beginner-friendly incubator for the money on Amazon. I initially purchased just one to try incubating eggs for my Ayam Cemani chickens. This is an uncommon breed, and it’s not unusual to have low hatch rates from them given that Ayam Cemani derive from landrace chickens living in the jungles of Java. They aren’t your average barnyard bird. As such, I didn’t anticipate much success; but my first hatch produced an 80% hatch rate! Temps were steady at 100.4 with humidity at around 45-50% until lockdown. At lockdown (on day 18), humidity increased to 75-80% with excellent results. The incubator performed as expected, with easy setup, clear controls + setting displays, and little to no maintenance issues thereafter. Simply change the water bottles when they run low, and add the second bottle on day 18 at lockdown. Some things I’ve noticed now after running this incubator a few times: 1) The ambient temp/humidity in the room it’s kept in can have an impact on how steady those things are inside the incubator. You’ll get best results if it’s set up in a room that doesn’t have much temp/humidity fluctuation to begin with. 2) The candler light isn’t really strong enough on its own to be super effective for anything other than a rudimentary check. You can use it to see that “Yup, things look different in there on day 17 than they did on day 7” but that’s about it. 3) This incubator will keep running in lockdown mode past day 21, which is fabulous because contrary to popular belief, some eggs may take an extra day or two past that point to finally hatch. I had one egg in my most recent clutch that pipped on day 23. Sometimes you just need to be patient, and this incubator makes that easy. 4) It’s an easy unit to clean. Make sure you do so thoroughly between each hatch! If not cleaned properly, bacteria can build up and cause new eggs to go bad before they have a chance to develop. If you’ve used any incubator for years without issue, only to suddenly notice a decrease in success rate, it’s probably in part because of bacterial buildup inside the unit. The only way this machine could possibly be any better is if there were an option for turning off the alarm. I know many folks prefer a dry hatch method, which involves lower humidity for the first 17 days of development. This incubator will sound an alarm if the humidity level (or temp) drops too low - a blessing and a curse, depending on what your hatching situation happens to be. The option to turn the alarm off (or simply allowing a wider range of humidity settings in the first place!) would make this incubator beyond perfect. I was so impressed with how easily it allowed me to improve my hatch rates that I immediately bought another one, so that my hens are no longer on nest duty themselves. It’s been a fabulous experience to hatch eggs in my own home with zero guess work involved! ... show more

  • Great product!
Color: Orange
I've been using this orange egg incubator for two weeks now, and I'm absolutely thrilled with my purchase! As someone who's always been interested in hatching my own eggs, this device has made the process incredibly straightforward and rewarding. The digital control panel is intuitive and easy to use, with clear temperature and humidity readings displayed on the LCD screen. I particularly appreciate the automatic egg turning feature - it saves me so much time and ensures the eggs are turned at consistent intervals for optimal development. The humidity control is excellent too; you can see from the photos how well it maintains moisture with those water droplets perfectly distributed around the clear dome. The egg candler tester (that small orange circle at the top) is a fantastic addition that lets me monitor development without disturbing the eggs too much. I was able to check progress at day 11 and confirm that fertilization was successful! Setup was a breeze right out of the box, and the power connection is secure. The clear dome allows me to observe the entire process without opening the incubator and disrupting the carefully controlled environment. It's also quite energy efficient and runs quietly in the background. Whether you're a beginner like me or someone with experience hatching eggs, this incubator is perfect for home use, small farms, or even classroom science projects. The 18-egg capacity is ideal for my needs - not too small but still manageable for a first-time user. I'm counting down the days until hatching time! This purchase has brought so much excitement to my home, and I'm already planning my next batch. Absolutely worth every penny for the quality and features you get. Highly recommended! ... show more
