This set is seriously impressive. I knew it came with a lot, but opening the case and seeing everything inside was still a bit of a wow moment. There are graphite pencils, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, metallic pencils, charcoal, blending tools, multiple erasers, sharpeners, brushes, a pencil extender, and plenty of other little art tools to experiment with. It's the kind of set that immediately makes me want to start trying things I haven't used before. One of the best parts is the variety. Instead of getting a giant set that's mostly different colors of the same pencil, this gives you several different mediums and tools. That makes it especially fun for someone who enjoys experimenting or is still figuring out what kinds of art they enjoy most. The included sketchbook even has cream, black, and toned tan paper, which opens up even more possibilities. I'm also really impressed with the case. With 176 pieces, this could have been an organizational nightmare, but everything has its own spot and is held securely in place. Even the sketchbook fits inside, so the entire collection can be zipped up and carried together rather than having supplies scattered between several boxes and bags. Are these necessarily the same as buying 176 individual professional artist-grade supplies? No, but that's not really the point of a set like this. The huge advantage is being able to explore graphite, charcoal, watercolor, colored pencils, blending techniques, and more without having to purchase everything separately. It's an amazing starter set and would also make one heck of a gift. For the sheer amount of stuff included, the organization, and how many different ways there are to create with it, this is a fantastic value and is easily a big five stars from me. This is an amazing kit that contains so much. There's a huge array of graphite pencils, more than I ever knew existed, also charcoal pencils (black and white), oil based and water based colored pencils, and the set of metallic pencils too. You get so many accessory tools as well, like the refillable water brush, art brush, pencil extender (extremely cool device), different types of erasers and blending tools. They even include a few types of sharpening tools. This has more than I imagined and is really getting me familiar with different styles and techniques, since I’m just a novice. Everything looks to be of very high quality and the nice case holds it all very well. Sometimes I’ve different types of kits that are just thrown into a standard generic case with everything tumbling around loosely, or with empty slots and compartments, but this seems to have been designed specifically for this set. Everything has a place and it fits perfectly. It’s even thick enough to hold the sketch book, so I know they really put some thought into this. If I had to criticize something, I’d say that the metallic pencils aren’t very metallic looking, but they still contribute greatly to the variety of different colors. Blending is always an option of course, so it’s basically a limitless spectrum of available colors to achieve. The sketch book is so cool because it lets you explore with black paper, mostly for the white chalk pencils I assume, and there are some brown sheets in there too. I’m so happy with this because it’s so neatly contained, complete, and convenient to carry around. If you want to keep yourself busy with a peaceful and therapeutic hobby, for instance while camping where there is no electricity, this is a fantastic choice. A nice collection of art supplies. Everything is nicely held into place by elastic straps in the travel case. Only 1 strap was slightly loose where the pencil moved while opening/closing the case. The case has a hand loop to assist in carrying. The zipper has an extender on it to make it easier to grab and pull to open or close. The case is all black made out of a sturdy canvas type material. On the front cover, in white ink is the brand name printed, "Vaniart". In the lower right is a picture of a kitten holding a pencil. I could do without the picture, but it does hint that the case contains pencils. On the left inside, there is one stiff flap that holds pencils on both sides. What would be nice is if there was a label to what type of pencils were being held in a a section, however each pencil does have it labeled to what type of pencil it is. I also just printed off the picture in the listing that labeled everything contained in the set and am just leaving it inside the kit. I am just starting to get into painting/drawing, so it is nice to have such a varied set containing everything I need in 1 nice travel kit. The price seems reasonable. Overall it is nicely packaged and everything seems to be of good quality. A possible improvement would be having separate cases for each type of pencil, so you could just bring those pencils with you. But there are so many other accessories that you may also need, so not sure how beneficial that would be except to have all the pencils in a case on the table while you are working.

This art set comes in a compact sturdy zippered binder, about 10"h x 7-1/2"w x 2-3/4"d when closed. Each piece of the contents is secured and separated by an elastic band. The contents include colored pencils and metallic colored pencils (which were smooth and laid down rich color), drawing pencils (that were smooth, easy to draw with), black and white charcoal pencils (that were crumbly, messy, didn't sharpen and I didn't like), watercolor pencils (which were smooth, easy to use and water soluble), a cd marker labeled extremely fine (it seemed medium tip to me), sanding board, plastic eraser and kneaded eraser (that worked well), paper blending stumps, a double end pencil stub holder with a large and regular pencil size end, watercolor brush pen and tiny watercolor brush (that worked well), a cheap feeling metal snap off knife (that the blade pulls out too easily while using but, is sharp, cuts well), a wire ring chubby sketchbook for most dry media of 100 paper sheets, 60 lb paper, 70 sheets cream color paper, 15 sheets of black paper, 15 sheets toned tan paper (they weren't perforated pages so they tear off like notebook paper with ragged edges, which I don't like). I like that this set is compact, with even the sketchbook fitting inside, plenty of supplies to make art on the go, with a loop strap at the top for hanging. The case seems sturdy with a good zipper is very portable and I can add a few things. I will rearrange the pencils in this set to get my colored pencils all together, get rid of the charcoal pencils and replace them with some of my own, and add some highlighting white and black markers. I will also add a small cutting mat to use with the snap off knife for cutting out my own artwork ephemera shapes, and paper glue for glueing those shapes down for paper collage. I will take this set with me while traveling, to make art when inspiration strikes, or when I need something to keep me busy.

There are a lot of art supplies in this kit. I love that they’re all contained in a zippered binder. It makes it easy to corral and find the items you’re looking for. Everything has its place. This kit is great for a budding artist. They can try different mediums and discover which they gravitate towards. After that discovery, investing in a more expensive set is less daunting. The quality of the items is fine, but it certainly isn’t as nice as some of the name brand comparables (like the colored pencils for example). Again, they are not a bad quality. In fact it’s just what it needs to be for someone starting out or a child. That’s way you’re not wasting money on a more expensive set, just to discover you don’t really like the medium. This is just a great activity kit in general. If you entertain youngsters, this is a fun thing to have waiting for their next visit. The set includes a spiral bound sketch book, pencil sharpeners, eraser, charcoal, graphite pencils, and colored pencils. If you’re taking a trip, this could be a nice activity to pass the time. It’s easy to travel with because it all (even the sketchbook) fits in the binder. You could throw it in a backpack or purse and sketch on the go. Personally, I use this at home with my nieces and nephews. We always have fun creating drawings and having drawing contests. This kit perfectly facilitates that. The overall quality is good. The construction of the items is also good. The pencils write smoothly and have good flow on the paper.

This is a really excellent drawing kit for beginner or hobby artists. The large zippered holder is well made to contain the whole set, and would make a very nice presentation as a gift. This set contains a large variety of drawing tools to play with and experiment, from different kinds of drawing/coloring pencils to erasers, blending stumps and a decent little metal sharpener. I love how the sketch pad includes white pages, black pages and brown pages, with decent quality paper for practice. It has basic colored pencils with wax cores, they are a little on the firm side which is good for beginners. They do blend pretty well, though, and there is a basic variety of colors for all-purpose use. There is a wide variety of sketch pencils, from H5 (quite hard graphite good for light, strong lines) to 8B (quite soft and excellent for shading/blending). It also comes with a set of watercolor pencils, as well as squeeze brushes that you can fill with water so you don't have to keep dipping. It is very convenient. The charcoal pencils (both black and white) are very good but my favorite are the metallic colored pencils, they just look beautiful on paper. This kit is good quality for the money and has everything a budding artist might need to get started all in one nice, neat case. I am very happy with it.

This is a perfectly contained little art kit that makes it easy to take it wherever you go. The zippered bag is perfect to contain all your supplies and there is even room inside to hold the sketch book inside the case. It is perfectly sized to take up very little room in your bag or backpack. You can always have it handy whenever inspiration strikes you. It contains an interesting collection of supplies. There are some nice graphite and charcoal pencils in the most popular sizes. Those pencils coupled with the kneadable eraser, pencil sharpener, blending stumps, and sketchbook give you the basics. It also includes 12 colored pencils, watercolor pencils (and a water brush), and some metallic pencils. While the graphite and charcoals are good enough quality, I am a little more particular about colored pencils. I will be removing the colored pencils, metallics, and watercolor pencils and will replace those with a selection of my favorite brand of colored pencils. That is one thing I like about the bag, though, you can easily customize it with your preferred tools so you have the perfect travel kit. Whether a budding amateur or seasoned artist I think this little travel kit will be a hit. It would make a great gift if you know someone with an artistic flare.
