We recently repainted our laundry room and thought that it was time to replace the utilitarian looking 4 foot fluorescent bulb fixture that has been in place for almost 30 years. While providing plenty of light when the bulbs were new, it's become more difficult to find replacements and many of the plastic parts were becoming yellowed and brittle. When looking for a replacement, we saw many that might be a possibility but were immediately eliminated when looking at the actual dimensions. So many of the photos showed the product out of proportion to the rest of the room. What looked to be a nice fixture obviously would look out of place when its true size was only 10 or 12 inches. This was a more realistic 17 inch diameter light and the product photos were more representative of the actual product. The build quality is also superior to many of the others. The dome is actually real glass and not just flimsy plastic. Mounting the new unit was relatively easy and straightforward. Some care must be taken when wiring to make sure that all of the excess wire is pushed into the electrical box so that it isn't pinched between the backing plate and the ceiling. I was considering wiring it to a dimmer switch as it is a dimmable light but while the light output is adequate for working in the laundry, I can't see where I would ever want less light in that room. If mounted in a bedroom, that may be an option. My one slight complaint is that the vintage brass outer ring does not want to stay flush to the ceiling on one side allowing light to leak out above it. I may take some time to see if the mounting springs can be adjusted for a tighter fit. ... show more

First, I can finally see in my kid's room, happy with the light. Had a few hiccups along the way. The light comes with a ring to secure the frosted glass dome and there are spring loaded shafts keeping the ring in place. Those spring mounts are rough, not smooth. Had to put a little silicone to help, sort of helped. The base fixture came a little bent. The installation was not fun trying to line up the fixture with screws, and they didn't seem necessary. I have a picture showing the light base not completely flush with the ceiling, and it won't go up further. I'm going to have to do some securing with drywall screws. If installation was easy and more secure then I'd give it a 5. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The light itself is very big which I was pleased with however I expected it to be brighter. It’s not like it’s not lighting up the room but since the light has a pale yellow glow to it even the slightest dim factor in the light can cause the room to look pale and dull. I expected it to be brighter but I guess this is also fine, considering the price. It looks good though and was very easy to set up. First the main frame goes into place with the wiring then the middle dome of light and finally the outer ring to secure it in place. ... show more

This is a very nice looking ceiling light but difficult to hang. It’s an attractive brushed gold brass finish with a glass dome rather than the usual cheap plastic. It’s a bit pricier than other lights of this quality and size. Assembly is required. We found it difficult to get the screws in and the light fixed on the top spring. It took 2 people to hang it amid a few expletives. It should go with any decor, which is a major plus, and the LED light is bright.
