Instead of taking a small piece of luggage with roller wheels aboard the plane and then storing it above in the overhead compartment, I decided it might be easier to try this backpack. I loved it because, first of all, it is small enough to store under the seat so it is easily accessible during the flight. The compartments are perfect for storing and organizing SO MUCH STUFF! I also prefer using a backpack rather than pulling a small piece of luggage with wheels. This is especially true when I have the larger luggage to be checked, but still in the coming and going one is stuck with the nuisance of rolling both small and large pieces of luggage and it can be problematic. However, using a backpack avoids that problem and it is comfortable to wear because the weight inside is distributed in the all the different compartments. In addition, the backpack material is strong and looks good, and even matches the color of my hard-side luggage. Ok, start. This is not a promo quality bag. But you are looking at this because it's cheaper than other nicer ones. It's that way for a reason. It is padded but not on the bottom and not exceptionally well. More like I can put my tablet in, and things won't scratch the screen, or with my laptop, it won't scratch the outside. Do not throw this around reviews of people chucking this thing and drop-kicking it like a junior high kid who has no respect for their nice things. No, this thing is padded s,o when walking around or sitting on the ground or whatever, it won't scratch up stuff or get messed up. If you want to throw it into the back of your car instead of putting it down on the passenger seat or floor of the car, get a shock-resistant case, you freaking psycho. Also, there is no padding on the bottom; just the excellent divider means my college books don't ruff it up as crammed into the bags. Other slots and corner rubs the inside of the pouch, and what would be the outside of my laptop or screen on my tablet when I was using it just for that. Another reason you SET IT DOWN, not drop it, not drop kick or chuck it; it lacks padding at the top and bottoms. This isn't a shock-resistant pack, it's padded so I can put books, cables, a mouse, and a mousepad in it, without it rubbing on the laptop as I walk, and it moves a little bit. Because my college campus is large, the excellent parking is under the solar spots, but one of my classes was next to the solar on stuff another side. I was almost lazy enough to drive to another parking lot. That is how big the campus is instead walked that far. In the end, all the walking made me pretty sore but also glad, as I know from my youth in the boot that bag is moving. I know because I had a frame from my pack in the boot with too much wait digging into me leave bare spot one hike as they strapped some M16 to my collection; I could feel with every step that bag moving as it rubbed me. People don't realize the bag moves like that. While not enough wait to bother me, a big collect textbook, a mouse with a cable attached, a power cord, and spiral notebooks, all that without cheap padding would rub and scratch my laptop's finish. So an excellent bargain bag, and I love that it has that dock on it, but I think it's faster not to use it, at least when topping off my laptop; for mobile devices, it's perfect between classes. I put it on the table in front of me or the chair next to me, and I don't get to take out the pack to charge my phone, for instance. But yet again, if you want to drop kick or throw your excellent expensive tablet or laptop, get a damn shock-resistant setup, not this thing. ... show more

I have a bad back, so it’s hard to carry a backpack in most situations. However, I needed one for traveling and later transition to school/work activities. First thing I noticed, it has a lot of pockets. Second thing, it fits a lot of items. Thirdly, but not less important, once I was carrying it, I hardly felt it. I didn’t feel the weight, I didn’t feel any poking or shifts in weight during walking periods. Fourth, it attaches well to my carry on, wheeled duffel bag. The material is very durable, the zippers work quite well, you can add locks to most of them. Sorry, no pictures, but it looks just as shown, if not better. First off: This is a GREAT backpack for the price! The bag has all the pockets, zippers, storage compartments, etc. that you will ever need. The padding is a bit thinner on the straps and the back than I normally like, but it has been surprisingly comfortable - even when I took it on a long hiking trip with me. I bought this bag to replace a 10 year old backpack that had finally worn out enough to get rid of, and I could not be happier. I was considering a bunch of other bags that were 2-3x the cost of this one, and I am so glad I did not buy those. This was a great buy! I have not had any issues with the zippers either like some other reviews mention. The bag is a tad on the small side, but it is big enough to carry 15" laptops, including (barely) big enough to carry my 16" MacBook Pro (the zippers were close on the edges). This bag actually fits 2 laptops, but only one in the padded laptop pouch. I sometimes have to carry both my personal laptop and my work one, so this was key for me. Overall it's been a great purchase. You won't find a better bag for the price. No regrets. ... show more

I bought this backpack before my freshman year of college and used it all 4 years of undergrad. It was an excellent backpack with enough room for multiple textbooks, my MacBook Pro, and other items like a jacket, pencil case, eno, etc. I never used the charging port that came with it, so I am unsure if it actually works or not. I am a bell choir director and have had a bag with many different pockets and zippered compartments for years that finally gave up the ghost :-( I decided that a back pack might be a good replacement, because I am often carrying a lot of other equipment besides my music and tools for the bells.
