I have 2 bearded dragons which I inherited from my daughter as she moved and was unable to keep them. She had tried sand etc in the bottom of the tanks and her dragons were not thriving (now she has had these dragons for 10 plus years). I ordered this mat thinking that it would be easier for me to keep clean. I order this bigger roll so I could do both tanks and was able to cut enough to do the bottome of the smaller tank twice and the larger tank 3 times. This is wonderful because I can pull the dirty mat out and replace with a lean piece right away then wash the dirty piece and allow to air dry. These dragons have gone from being very sedate to running around like crazy. So far I am extremely pleaed with the performance of this mat. ... show more

I used this product as a shelf and drawer liner. It is very thin and easy to cut but is robust material. One side has a very slick surface and the other has a quilted pattern which is nice but does not keep anything from sliding around. The intended purpose is for reptiles but I like the look for liners for my drawers and book shelves. There is an extremely potent odor when you open the box, it is quite strong and needs to be aired for quite some time before it goes away. The bulk of the odor comes from the box and once you dispose of it the product itself has no odor or it fades quickly. Dispose of the box right away or your whole house will stink for a week. This is very thin material so it is easy to cut and form to whatever sized container, drawer or shelf you need. Being so thin there is no padding at all, I would say it is about the same thickness as wall paper but less easy to tear or rip. After it airs out and you get rid of that awful box, there is no odor to the product itself but once you initially open the box, do it outside! Very strong pungent smell hits you right in the face. Take the roll out of the box and let it air out over night. I like this material for my shelves but I am sure for reptiles it is really good too. ... show more

We have a Russian Tortoise and a Bearded Dragon that were in need of something better than normal substrate materials. The tortoise especially. Our house is laid out in a way that she can roam around quite a bit on tile flooring in the room their terrariums are in. As such, I built her a small ramp to come and go from the terrarium when she likes. Going in and out she was dragging substrate out with her, needing constant clean-up. The mat solves that issue while still giving her something with plenty of grip to walk on. It's very easy to cut whatever size you may need, and fit both of our terrariums perfectly. There's lots of extra length left over, as well. Enough that even if both somehow get damaged in the future, it would be really easy to cut out another section and replace them. It's really easy to just pull it out, take it outside and hose it off, or just wipe it down with wet paper towels for smaller messes. You can see in my photo that the tortoise terrarium also open with a sliding glass door. That was constantly getting substrate bits in the track causing issues before, as well. I used part of this for a small reptile tank, but had tons left over, so I lined some chicken egg incubators with the rest. Now my cleanup will be super easy! This stuff is tough and sturdy and also soft. It's non slip and you can hose it off or even wash it in your kitchen sink. I think this stuff will last for years! Solid five stars! ... show more

    • Quality Liner for Reptile Enclosure
The mat is the perfect size for 18" deep enclosures so you only have to trim the length. The extra long mat allows for multiples to be cut out so you have plenty for years to come. It holds substrate well also when lifted allowing for easier substrate replacement.
