  • Great Beginner-Friendly Welder — Easy to Use and Inspiring!
I’m not a welder by any means, but this 145A MIG Welder really made me feel like I could become one. When I came across this machine, I thought “this looks safe enough to learn with”—and I was right. I watched a few YouTube videos on MIG welding, picked up some metal coupons, and leaned on the advice of an experienced welder who recommended this exact unit. I also grabbed an auto-darkening welding helmet and a pair of gloves, then dove into some hands-on practice. Even as a complete beginner, I found it pretty easy to use. One small trick I had to figure out was adjusting the wire feed tension—too tight or too loose and it wouldn’t feed properly. After a few rounds of trial and error, I got it dialed in. I practiced by trying to build a small metal box, which meant burning through quite a bit of wire. Thankfully, replacement gasless flux-core MIG wire was easy to find at my local big box store, so I was able to keep going without delay. Eventually, I got the box put together well enough to be proud of, and then I moved on to a real repair project—a broken piece of a bed frame. I took my time with it, and the welds held. It seems sturdy for now, and I’m optimistic about its durability. The machine itself is a great size—compact and easy to store—and the 110V plug is perfect for home use. Setting up 220V would’ve been a challenge for me, so this was a much better fit. I think this welder is an excellent choice for small repairs and light fabrication projects. I’m still nowhere near being a skilled welder, but this device has definitely piqued my interest. I’ll be using it for any future metalwork around the house—and who knows, this might just turn into a full-on hobby. Highly recommended for beginners looking for a solid, approachable machine to get started with. ... show more

  • Good welder for learning or occasional casual repairs
This little welding machine offers a good combination of features and performance, in a compact and relatively lightweight package that can be powered from (some) standard home outlets. It's easy to use, I am by no means a professional welder, but this offers better performance than the cheapo AC machines, and is pretty versatile in being able to use it for MIG or stick welding (or TIG, which requires buying additional accessories. I'll get around to trying that eventually.) It works OK from some home electrical outlets, but you'll really want a 20 or 30 amp circuit without much else on it, preferably close to the electrical panel. Many homes are using 15 amp circuits, which doesn't really cut it for anything but the lightest tasks, and if there are other things on the same circuit, or long wires to the panel, performance will degrade dramatically and you may trip a breaker. It takes a little dicking around to get the adjustments right for smooth wire feeding, but once it's dialed in it works great. Stick welding is more straightforward, you can just attach the clamps, set the current and go. Stick does tend to want a little more current than MIG, so you might run into the circuit issues I mentioned earlier. I really want to try it for TIG, having never done that, but I'll have to buy the TIG torch, gas and other supplies. Definitely recommend this product for a learner or DIYer. Only thing I'd really like to see is dual-voltage input support, so I could plug it into a 240V outlet for better performance. That's almost an incidental feature on inverter/switching power sources, and it might just work anyway since a lot of these products are engineered for both the American and Euro markets where 240V is standard. Someday I'll open it and see if the internal components are properly rated, and if so, might just give it a go on 240. Worst case, I'll get a spectacular and exciting bang. ... show more

  • Amazing value for a 3-in-1 welder
Getting in to welding as a hobby has never been easier thanks to little machines like this one. I got a cheap stick welder to see if I enjoyed the hobby. I do, so I picked this one up to try mig welding. What a cool little machine! You wouldn't want to use it if welding is your day job, but for exploring the hobby and learning how to do some welds with youtube tutorials you can't go wrong here. ... show more

  • `Very Surprised
I recently moved into a new house where the workshop is limited to 110 Volt electricity. With this constraint in mind, I decided to give this welder a shot to repair the deck on my riding mower. Honestly, I was skeptical about its performance on just 110V, but I was blown away by how well it worked. I started with the TIG welding option, and it exceeded all my expectations—delivering clean, precise welds with ease. Then, to tackle the underside of the deck, I switched to the stick welding option, which performed just as impressively. The welder’s ability to adapt to both tasks was a pleasant surprise. It comes equipped with everything you need to get started, except for a welding helmet, which is worth noting. What really stood out to me, as someone still learning the ropes, was how simple it was to use. The dials and digital display made adjusting settings straightforward and intuitive. Overall, this welder turned a potentially tricky repair into a smooth success. It’s an excellent choice for anyone working with 110V power—I couldn’t be happier with its performance! ... show more
