  • Quality Product
Style: Seed Starting Mix Size: 12 Quart
This is a good seed starting compound. It arrives as a compressed hard block. Just cut the top off the bag and pour in about a gallon and a half of water. It expands to about 3 times its original size. You can user it straight out of the bag or pour it into a container. It works great and retains the moisture needed for the plants. It has the needed nutrients for the plants. My plants are looking great its definitely worth the money. ... show more

  • Really love this soil blend and it’s well draining
Style: Succulent & Cacti Mix Size: 6 Quart
I really love this soil blend. Unfortunately I opened my bag about a month after I got it and I had little gnats. I’m chalking it up to me letting the product sit and will still use it but treat it to get rid of the gnats.

  • Works!!
Style: Seed Starting Mix Size: 12 Quart
This has been the best starting soil to use! My seedlings love it and have already popped up in less than a week. I used the left over soil to top my monstera and bird of paradise!

  • Great Soil for Succulent Beginners
Style: Succulent & Cacti Mix Size: 6 Quart
This was my first time buying soil for succulents, and I was really happy with the Back to the Roots mix. When I opened the bag, it did feel slightly damp, but that’s normal for organic soil and it didn’t smell bad at all. The texture is light and drains well, which is important for succulents. I did notice some small twigs and bits of bark, but after learning more, I found out that’s actually good—it helps with airflow and keeps the soil from getting compacted. My plants have been settling in nicely, and I feel confident as a first-time grower that this was the right choice. I also love that it’s organic and made in the USA. For anyone starting out with succulents, this mix is a solid option! ... show more

  • This stuff works!
Style: Succulent & Cacti Mix Size: 6 Quart
This is exactly as advertised. It’s dirt. Dirt particular to growing succulents. I’ve used it on my various cactus plants and they grow beautifully because the dirt was formulated to do that. Please don’t be surprised if you order this and get a bag of dirt, that’s what this is … dirt.

  • Absolutely saved my Trigona. Very impressed!
Style: Succulent & Cacti Mix Size: 6 Quart
The media could not be loaded. Let me just say this, I am not a big review person. After reading some of the other reviews though, I felt I needed to review this. I’ve had this Euphorbia Trigona (or that’s what it was labeled as) for over 2yrs. It has never grown, it has never put out new leaves, it survived my partners very forgetful plant care techniques. Over the last winter it was just another neglected plant on my already busy schedule of things to get to. It started losing all its leaves. The tops became slightly soft and sponge like to the touch. I had written it off and taken it out of my will. Until about 3 weeks ago when I finally got around to it again. I did a quick search for a potting mix and was determined to fix him. Ordered this mix out of a quick search (I detest miracle gro brand) and it was on its way. The next day I cleaned the pot out, loosened the roots of the two stalks and replanted him back into his pot. The mix was well above the usual quality I see in potting mixes. It had an earthy smell and very light weight. Better than any cactus mix I had seen before. It was easy to mix and settle around the roots. After packing it in, a very good soaking and full 8hrs or drain time… back into a brightly lit dining room area it went. It’s been nearly 2 weeks now and I can not stress how great he looks! New leaves, more growth and it no longer has a soft spot anywhere on it! ... show more

  • Very Nice Potting Soil
Style: Succulent & Cacti Mix Size: 6 Quart
I really like this succulent mix. It drains well, which is a must. I keep many cactus and succulents and I'm always looking for good soil. This nutrient rich formula is working really well so far. I'm not used to paying this price for a small bag, but for the sake of convenience I would do it again. I normally buy large bags from the big garden centers in town, but was unable to find it when I needed it. I took a chance on this and I'm glad I did. I had a lot of small transplanting projects to do, so the small bag was just perfect. There were a lot of complaints in the reviews about gnats and fungus being in the soil. I can tell you from experience that that can happen with any soil from anywhere. It's always a crap shoot when you buy a bag of soil and open it up. Gnats and fungus spores can get in the soil at the manufacturing facility, in the warehouse where they're stored, or even while they're in a truck being delivered somewhere. I wouldn't fault the company for having these problems. Sometimes you could open a bag of soil and put it in your garage or shed and all it takes is one gnat to come lay an egg or one fungus spore and you're whole bag can be spoiled. I got lucky with this particular bag. No complaints here! Another issue I saw in the reviews was that people were unhappy with the little bits of wood found in the soil. This soil actually comes with aged bark (it says it on the bag), so little bits of wood is to be expected. A lot of cactus mix comes with bits of wood, so I'm used to it. If someone didn't like it, they could easily pick the pieces out and throw them away. Again, no complaints here! In the future, if I need a small bag of soil I would absolutely purchase this again. I'm quite happy with it! :) ... show more

  • Works okay, but need to deal with Gnats
Style: Indoor Soil Size: 6 Quart
It is very easy to use, and the soil looks very rich. However, like many other comments already mentioned, this soil does have fungus gnat problem. I baked the soil using my oven but there are still several survivors.
