The picture shows it has steel rope thimbles in each eye of the rope, but mine has plastic ones. I didn't like that. So the picture is not exactly correct. I hope the rope is strong enough for climbing. The rope bag is a good one.

So I run a steel band non profit. We have our own studio and middle and high school kids come and rehearse several times a week. Every once in a while, when they open the studio door there is a sign that says…The Floor is Lava….before they arrive I have placed objects on the floor that they can jump to and ropes overhead that they can hold onto. I got this rope for that purpose and it works very nicely. Please note that I am not attaching it to a steep or vertical rock face and trusting my life and limb to its strength or integrity. For my needs it is perfect.

I got this rope as an inexpensive rope for a zipline for my kids. I did not want to use my expensive petzel brand ropes for this since my kids are rough w/ ropes. Here are my observations for this rope: Thickness – This is described as a 12mm rope. When I measured with a caliper, it measured 11.79mm in multiple locations, which is close enough. Ends – the rope is made w/ both ends having loops permanently sewn into the rope. The sewing is wrapped in a clear shrink wrap to help protect it. I did notice that some of the sewing was a bit unraveled on 1 end. Each loop has a protective eyelet insert. This is made from a thin plastic piece. It helps to reduce abrasion on the sheath and also gives it a bit more shape so the the rope doesn’t pinch as bad. Carabiners – Personally I would not use the included carabiners on this rope. These are the type of carabiners that you can pick up at a hardware store and are not meant for climbing ropes. These have sharp edges and do not open / close properly. I would suggest spending a few bucks and getting actual climbing carabiners. Quality of Rope – I would describe this rope as a good middle ground between professional climbing ropes and the 20 dollar hardware ropes that you can pickup from home depot. It is a true kernmantle rope (having a core and an outer sheath). The rope itself is very stiff. I’ve used it a few times and it hasn’t really become any more pliable. Overall I think this is a good rope that works really well for situations where your life does not depend on it. So for me, it works great in my front yard tied between two trees about 5 feet off the ground. My kids love hooking up their zipline harnesses to it and flying across the yard.
