I am 70 yo grandmother and I've owned a lot of mattresses. Gel, memory foam, traditional spring and coil, hybid of all the above. This mattress may be the best yet! Unbelievable price. Quick shipping. Great color and fit. And a belly splitting laugh when my husband unwrapped it. The best part was my hubby's face...Our grandson warned him that it would expand quickly and he should get out of the way...It fell right into place on the bed. The mattress is soft on the hips but firm for the back. So far so good. It is a little soft when you sit on the edge of the bed but every mattress is. Highly recommend! Unbeatable for the price.

Let me be clear in this review. There is absolutely no edge support at all. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. To advertise this has any let alone “reinforced edge support” is a blatant lie. It has thin fabric sides and you can lightly press your hand and feel the coils. Idk if these kinds of beds can have edge support. I am beginning to think it is simply not possible by design. My complaint is I am an edge sleeper. Also, when getting out of bed it’s unnerving to have no edge support. I feel like I’m going to fall quite often. Also when you sit on it be careful. You will sink straight down. And yes it’s easy to loose balance and hit the floor. You have to sit much further back. After saying all of that. I am pleased with the rest of the mattress. It’s comfortable. I think I’m good with not adding a topper. If I do add one. It would only be a thin one. Like an inch or two at the most. My current three inch is too much. I find it comfortable. I sleep the same. I don’t wake up anymore or any less stiff. I don’t move in my sleep. So I can wake up very stiff. It’s just me. My dogs are happy. Unboxing… so the hardest part is getting it out of the box and on to the bed frame. I am not a small woman. I’m 5’6”. I’m not weak or frail. I had to rip the box all the way down. That was after sliding it on the floor into my room. Then from another review I was scare of it popping open. Do not believe that review. It’s not going to pop open. I got it up. It was so heavy. Then it has a tool to cut it open. Don’t do it yet. I did a little area. I should have waited. So first roll the plastic off. You will roll it down. And then shove it back up to the top of the frame and then roll it down again pulling the plastic off. I think I did that like 3 times. Then once that is off and off the frame you will push it back to the top of the frame. You will be hot and sweaty it’s a lot of work for one person. Now is when you cut the plastic off. And again no it won’t pop or go crazy. Move with a sense of haste but you don’t need to be in a hurry and freaking out. Just look at it and plan it. I cut one side quickly walked around and cut the other side. It will start expanding right away. You’ll hear it. The other side will get tight against the plastic. Still it’s not going to explode and hurt you. Once your cut it off it does snap out and unroll quite quickly. Then at the same time it pops up to the full height. It’s not heavy so adjusting it on the frame is easy. So is making your bed. It’s light so lifting to get the sheets under is easy. I got the 14”. I think any of these and all of them are basically the exact same and so if you’re getting one. Look for the cheapest in the height and size you need. None are “better” than any other. Ok so there is always debates on the firmness of mattresses. Compared to a normal mattress you get in a store. This would NOT be medium firm. Compared to other bed in a box. I get it. It’s definitely firmer. I have tested a few used ones off reseller sites. And yeah I get why this is called firm. Or medium firm. If you compare it to a store bought. It would be medium if not a medium soft. If you like a hard mattress maybe get a futon. This is not for you. I prefer plush. So I’m definitely considering a thin topper.
