  • Durability
I actually use what would be considered a lot of portable A/C units in my business/hobby. I just received my order so my review would be why I ordered it. I went through 2 Black & Decker while my Honeywell just goes and goes I don’t even know how old it is. My Units are used in hot environments so I expect them to wear out and I go through a lot units. Honeywell seems to like my environment. ... show more

  • Needs Drained Every Hour in Cooling Mode
There are a few glaring issues with this product 1. The unit vibrates violently. If any tube/wheel/fan/vent is slightly out of place it will sound like a mid-sized motorcycle is revving inside your room. Every time I turn it on I have to press and lift various parts of the unit until I find out what is causing the noise before taping or angling it in a way that makes is quieter. 2. The draining system is a massive design flaw. There are two separate compartments that hold water. The top compartment, which gathers water in the "dehumidifier" mode and the bottom department which gathers water in the "cooling" mode. Neither compartment is removable, so be prepared to lift the 100 lb unit to the bathtub to drain, or hold it 2 ft in the air above a bucket. 3. The unit floods itself into turning off every hour in cooling mode. The user manual states that the unit should not collect water in cooling mode, but if if is an extremely humid environment it may turn off automatically and show a water warning. This happens every hour. I have triple checked that the fan is set up with the tubing at the suggested height, and it isn't extended more than 2 ft. I live in the notoriously dry state of Colorado, so humidity is not the problem. I have a similar standing AC unit in the next room over that has had no trouble dispelling the water up the tube for the past 3 months, but this one can not seem to last over an hour without turning off and needing drained. I purchased at around $270, which was 40% off at the time. Now I understand why it was marked so low. I recognized the brand name "Honeywell" and hoped for better, but was very disappointed. ... show more

  • It works bus design has flaws
Size: 12,000 BTU Style: 550 Sq. Ft. Color: Black/White
The unit cools my little room in minutes. However, the hose is hard to screw into the unit to the window panel. The hose falls out with the smallest bump. I do not know who designed the water drainage in the unit but clearly, they never tested it. The drain hose badly fits the upper drain opening and does not fit the bottom drain opening at all. There is no way to drain it into a tray or anything because nothing fits. We have to put a towel under the unit. It is very messy. ... show more

  • really cools
We bought this portable room air conditioner, because it is so much easier to use than a window ac unit. This ac is very easy to set up, easy to move, and easy to use.

  • COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY
I have central heat and a/c, but wanted my bedroom colder than the rest of the house while sleeping, so bought this unit. Ice keeps forming on the coils when I turn it on, thus blowing warm air in A/C mode. The central a/c unit is set at 70 degrees, and I set the portable unit at 68 degrees, so not a huge difference, and still it won't work properly. I have a different model Honeywell portable a/c unit in the bonus room over the garage because that room is always warmer than the rest of the house, and that unit has worked every single day since spring of 2019 just fine without any issues. This model is just garbage. ... show more

  • Freestanding ACs are fundamentally flawed. This one is no exception.
It seems like a better solution, right? You don't have to have a pointy 60-lb metal object hanging out your window. Easy to roll around etc. But it's not a better solution. 1. In order to blow hot air out the window, the air has to come from somewhere. It's called negative pressure. This AC sucks air in from other rooms, from around your door frames etc. Warm air. So while it's cooling your room, it's also sucking warm air in from the rest of your house. 2. The condenser condenses water. Unless you locate it near a drain, a unit like this has nowhere to send the water--so it just puts it back into the air. So you get a very MOIST environment. Like water is condensing on the unit and making little puddles. 3. The compressor is noisy--and now it's inside your room rather than hanging out the window. 4. It takes up valuable floor space. I suppose this unit is fine for what it is. But a good window unit will beat it 10 days out of 10. ... show more

  • It's not super easy to connect to the window, but it's gold when it comes to cooling down the room
This is a beast in terms of power - we put it in our living room and it certainly cools it down very fast. The only problem is that it's not super simple to connect to the window, the tubes it comes with have to be attached to the window part, that takes a while, and they easily fall out if you move the AC to another room. Overall we're happy with it, but mostly because we've learned not to move it around too much ... show more
