The 8.7-inch size is perfect for chafing dishes and buffet platters, not too long, not too short. The gold color is warm and elegant, not brassy or cheap looking. The stainless steel construction is durable and won't rust or bend. The tongs have a scalloped edge that grips food well without crushing. At around $1.73 per piece, this is a massive upgrade over plastic serving ware or mismatched kitchen spoons. What’s in the Box (Excellent Variety): This set is incredibly comprehensive and perfectly covers a multi-dish catering or chafing setup. It includes: • 3 Solid Serving Spoons & 3 Slotted Serving Spoons (Great for sides with juices/sauces) • 1 Large Serving Fork • 1 Cake/Pie Server (It has a handy serrated edge on one side for slicing) • 3 Serving Tongs (They nest together perfectly for compact drawer storage) Finish & Quality Details: • Stellar Packaging: I was so relieved to see that every single piece arrived individually sealed in its own plastic sleeve. This prevented any friction or scratching during transit, so they arrived completely flawless. • Weight and Stamping: They have a solid, comfortable weight to them and don’t flex or bend when scooping heavier food. Note: Only the flat-handled utensils have "STAINLESS STEEL" stamped on the back, while the tongs and a few other pieces are blank. I have never had a utensil serving set that made my buffet table look cohesive so, I really wanted to try this fancy looking set. I am going to give my opinion on each serving utensil because there is a difference. Firstly, both the solid and slotted serving spoons are engraved as stainless steel, they are a sturdy weight that will not bend. The edges are smooth and gold finish is applied well. They have long enough handles to keep them from falling into food in chafing dishes. The serving fork is also engraved as stainless steel and has a decent weight however; the gold finish is not applied well and I can see the stainless steel underneath in several places. The cake server does not have the stainless steel engraving on the handle. It has some rough edges. It does not seem balanced or wide enough to serve a normal size slice of cake. The tongs are much thinner metal. They are large enough for serving meat or salad, but too large for serving most appetizers. The tongs are rough in spots especially around the scalloped edges. One out of three had some scratches. They do not stay closed for storage but, they came with a gold twist tie you could reuse to close them for easier storage. The product details state that these utensils are dishwasher safe. I am washing them by hand and drying them before storage to preserve the finish.
