Got this for our shop sink after the big water heater started leaking. Our well water is pretty cold and I noticed I have to keep this close to full blast to get decent enough hot water just to wash hands. If I turn down the temp you run out of hot water pretty quick. For our use it works well enough. I haven’t compared the energy costs between the old tank but it looks nice, is compact, heats up pretty dang quick, and gets the job done. Install is easy if you know the difference between hot and cold lines.

I read all the reviews on this water heater. Seems like some people love it, some loathe it. Normally I don’t buy things with polarizing reviews, however I liked the design and the ability to adjust it as well as its simplicity. I am using it as a supplemental heater for my kitchen sink as the sink is the farthest point from the main water heater and it’s at least one minute of running water before it gets hot. That’s wasteful so I wanted to try this heater out. I’ll start off by saying this heater is on the cheaper side, quality wise. The fittings they provide are almost pot metal and they feel light which is not a good sign with metal plumbing fittings. Right out of the gate, I tossed their fittings and their pressure line. They only provide you with one line and it’s braided but very flimsy. The slightest twist and it will kink! No thanks! Just know that right out of the gate, you will need to go to the hardware store. If you are connecting it to your sink like I did, you will need the following: Male to male 1/2” NPT about 2” long * 1/2” Female to 3/8 male shut off valve * 1/2” Female to 3/8 Female braided sink hose * 1/2” Female to 1/2” Female braided sink hose (this replaces their cheap one) Disconnect your faucet hot water line from your shut off valve. This assumes your valve has a 3/8 compression fitting like most. Connect the 1/2” to 3/8 braided line from the “cold water inlet” nipple on the tank to your hot water valve. Connect the 1/2” female to 1/2” female braided line from the “hot water outlet” nipple on the tank to the 1/2” male pipe nipple. Connect the other end of the pipe nipple to your 1/2” by 3/8 water valve. Now connect your faucet line to this water valve and turn the valve so that it is open. Use pipe thread tape for all of the 1/2” stuff. Do NOT use it on any of the 3/8 compression fittings please. You will cause a leak. Once this is all done, then turn on your hot water valve and let the tank fill. Once that is done, plug it in and enjoy! I’ll come back and reduce stars if the tank dies!

I found this a bit tricky to attach the lines , the instructions are not great. If I had not had a lot of experience in plumbing and such I'm not sure I could have installed it. I had to go buy 1/2 to 3/8 line adapters and that worked out. This comes with a drain line from the pressure relief valve that I found out I had to install it and drill a hole to run it out because it drips a bit no matter what I did, nothing major just a drop or two here and there but would cause problems if it were not installed and routed outside. As of now it's been in a while , it heats very fast and holds the temperature amazingly well and it gets scalding hot with no problem. I hope it lasts a long time. The temp. dial has no set markings on it so you have to just learn where to turn it in order to be on the desired temp. marking it with a marker or something.

Temp gauge say it is hot, but short time on and cool. Also having problems getting pipe threads to seal. So far, wrapping towel around pipes and only turning on when used. OK for short uses. only.

This was an inexpensive addition to the kitchen sink where the water was never hot enough. Connecting it to a faucet with 3/8 inch compression fittings was a challenge, I finally had to by a "universal dishwasher hose connection set" and a single 3/8 male to 1/2 inch female compression adapter. The temperature read-out LED is absurdly optimistic. To get 124 degrees (Fahrenheit) I set the LED to read 150 degrees. Once set, the temperature control was very sensitive, going from 120 degrees to 124 required a deft touch. I can make no claims to longevity yet, but will try to follow up in 6 months or so. The unit is very light, which makes me skeptical of the claim of a stainless steel tank. Use (once carefully calibrated) is set-and-forget. One-year follow-up: Despite my concerns about build quality, this little unit is chugging along pumping out hot water every day. It is under the sink in the kitchen, so I was most worried about leaks. NONE SO FAR. I am upgrading this to a 5-star rating.

My kitchen is quite far from the water heater so having a water heater right there makes it perfect for getting hot water right away. I bought an outlet doubler so It shares the plug with the disposal. It works great.
