I was looking for a table top band saw for my VEX-U robotics team and came across this. We mostly cut aluminum and on occasion, cold rolled steel. This machine definitely cuts both! The setup for the band saw was rather painless. Just a few nuts and bolts. The directions were very easy to follow. I should note that it does not come with a wrench for the nuts, so you will need to source one, or better yet, a ratchet. Once assembled, all I had to do was tension the blade and fire it up. Nothing needed to be adjusted. One minor gripe I have is that I wished there was some place to stow the allen wrench that is required for changing the blade, but I am certainly willing to look past that since it is standard hex and not some weird proprietary tool. Operating the saw is very simple. One thing worth mentioning is that the dial all the way on low will make the saw stop, but the work light will be on (if the light is on, the saw is on). I personally really like this feature as it lets me gradually ramp up the saw to the desired FPM. Additionally, the removable tab to lock the saw is a really nice feature. My only concern is that if it gets damaged or lost, there is not really a good way of turning on the saw. So do I recommend this saw? Absolutely, it has saved an incredible amount of time for my team and was reasonably priced. It is designed to be a tabletop saw, unlike the other "portable" band saw that require a table kit and have the trigger velcroed down, which is absolutely rediculous. Simply put, even if it is a little more expensive, buy this one. *note* The side of the band saw mentions it takes 45 inch blades, however it will take 44 and 7/8 inch blades just fine. Just remember to track your blade whenever you make a blade change.

I and a friend assembled the unit, with no problems. Simple assembly, no problems. We followed the checklist and everything looked good...until the switch was turned on. It immediately mis-tracked and the bandsaw blade came off. We checked everything, re-aligned and tried again ( multiple times ) We even disassembled the idler wheel and verified all was in working order. We finally replaced the 0.030" blade with one of my New ones (0.020" thick) after several hours. We Verified tracking and the unit cut a 10" knife profile from 1095 steel easily. I do not know if it simply cannot accept thicker bandsaw blades, or if the blade that came with it was faulty in some way that was not visible. The manufacturer SHOULD have at LEAST turned the saw ON to verify that it WORKED ! Apparently NOT INSPECTED. Works great right now. Hopefully no further problems will arise.

Assembly of the machine was relatively straightforward. Once it was all together, I turned it on and nothing…just humming. Not wanting to burn up the motor, I basically took it back apart again to get to the blade to make sure it wasn’t hung up on anything I couldn’t see or some other issue. Turns out the speed control was turned all the way down and it wouldn’t start with low power. I can’t say I love having to take the thing apart to change blades, but it’s a fairly cheap machine. Once it was running, I test cut some mild steel rod and it cut relatively nicely. I also think it ought to have something to help guide a straight cut, but I’m a woodworker, so I’m used to rip fences and sometimes miter gauges on bandsaws. I may rig up some kind of sled to help me make straight cuts, since that is really why I ordered this. The motor is also pretty noisy. All that said, it’s a low price machine and it cuts metal. 4 stars.

Great price. Great machine!!! Works great. Easy set up. Fits perfect on workbench. Worked great. I’ve already used it on 1095 steel, 15n20, and titanium. Works great but still only had it one month.

I ordered this for my fiance as he welds a lot of smaller items for people on the side but also fabricates his own parts from time to time and makes sculptures as well. This is perfect for his shop and makes some of those task so much easier for him.

I wish they would give you an option of a half of a star because this is actually 4 1/2 stars. It is heavy duty and works well. My only complaint so far is the motor is a little on the noisy side.
