  • Loud but very effective. Love the speed control.
Mine got lost in shipping but I acquired another one. This thing cut great and I love the ability to control the speed for materials like G10 vs 1095 and other steels. It is VERY loud but so is the rest of my shop so I’m okay with that but others might find that to be problematic. I’ve used this to shape 30 knives so far and I’m very glad I purchased is. Taking it it off to change the blade is a bit of a hassle but I know it’s construction is impressive. Also I think this is less then hald the price of a name brand saw and a table like this combined, so a great value. ... show more

  • Its a hobby saw not pro band saw. Thats why it$350
It's a good saw but it is loud!! Changing the blade is a pain in the back side. I have seen some people cut a grove out of the plastic to make changing the blade easier but it only takes a few seconds to get it in place. I do not want to bash it but you will have to make some "modifications". The bottom plastic fills with metal shavings and chunks allowing the rubber piece the blade rides on to jump off the drive drive wheel at a high rate of speed possibly damaging the rubber piece. Drill "vent" holes to allow materials to harmlessly fall out of the bottom. The paint on the table top gets scratched and looks like crap after a few uses [they should have left table unpainted] To get the saw to cut a straight line you have to twist the work piece and roll it. Even with the tracking moved the blade does it's own thing ... show more

  • Quality Tabletop Band Saw
I was looking for a table top band saw for my VEX-U robotics team and came across this. We mostly cut aluminum and on occasion, cold rolled steel. This machine definitely cuts both! The setup for the band saw was rather painless. Just a few nuts and bolts. The directions were very easy to follow. I should note that it does not come with a wrench for the nuts, so you will need to source one, or better yet, a ratchet. Once assembled, all I had to do was tension the blade and fire it up. Nothing needed to be adjusted. One minor gripe I have is that I wished there was some place to stow the allen wrench that is required for changing the blade, but I am certainly willing to look past that since it is standard hex and not some weird proprietary tool. Operating the saw is very simple. One thing worth mentioning is that the dial all the way on low will make the saw stop, but the work light will be on (if the light is on, the saw is on). I personally really like this feature as it lets me gradually ramp up the saw to the desired FPM. Additionally, the removable tab to lock the saw is a really nice feature. My only concern is that if it gets damaged or lost, there is not really a good way of turning on the saw. So do I recommend this saw? Absolutely, it has saved an incredible amount of time for my team and was reasonably priced. It is designed to be a tabletop saw, unlike the other "portable" band saw that require a table kit and have the trigger velcroed down, which is absolutely rediculous. Simply put, even if it is a little more expensive, buy this one. *note* The side of the band saw mentions it takes 45 inch blades, however it will take 44 and 7/8 inch blades just fine. Just remember to track your blade whenever you make a blade change. ... show more

  • Best Value
I am new to making knives and this item was perfect. I needed a tool to learn on but did not want to over invest. I did upgrade the saw blade to LENOX Tools Portable Band Saw Blades, 44-7/8" x 1/2" x .020", 10/14 TPI, and I am very pleased with how it's cutting 1095 carbon steel.. Great for entry level cutting, easy setup and storage,, and I experienced great communication with the seller ... show more

  • Broke on first use
Broke the first time I used it.. blade won’t stay in place because the rubber keeps slipping off of the drive wheel. Poor quality.

  • Awesome but LOUD
Super solid machine. Cuts great. Doesn’t get bogged down. Big capacity. Perfect for metal work -1 Star because this little machine is somehow the LOUDEST machine in my shop by a long shot. 100% requires hearing protection at any speed above 30%. Not sure why…at some point I will try to make a little sound damping box around the motor. If you can deal with the noise, it is a very powerful machine for the size and price ... show more

  • Its tougher than I gave it credit for
It is much louder than I expected. The only other thing that was a problem, is that the blade it comes with is crap. Easy fix though, milwakee blades are available at home depot. I used this to split 2 ft of 4" x 4" aluminum it took a little time but that was a rough job and this little machine pulled it off. Ive used it on a few pieces flat steel, pipe, and bolt modifications. Its a beast of a machine in a little package. ... show more
