  • NOT FOR BEGINNERS!
Has a lot of the classics across three generations.

  • A Good Collection of Easily Playable Popluar Songs
This book is one of a series of Hal Leonard’s music books for various instruments. It contains the music for 123 songs by artists ranging from the Beatles and the Monkees, through the Supremes, the Mamas and Papas and Simon and Garfunkel. The songs are arranged alphabetically and printed on large format (12” x 9”) pages, usually one song per page, although a few songs are printed on adjacent pages, so it is never necessary to turn pages while playing a single song. This is a useful companion to the customary etude books, whose etudes often present an unvarying succession of quarter notes, eighth notes, triplets, or running sixteenth notes. Using this book, students can supplement their method books with more interesting material. And this book presents rhythmic situations students might not encounter in method books. Some of these songs are very basic; some are more challenging. But all should be accessible to intermediate level students. They are in a limited number of keys (Bb, C, Eb, F,and G), and nearly all notes fall within the treble clef—only rarely does the music go as far below the staff as the G under the second ledger line, or as far above the staff as the A on the first ledger line. This book could be used for introductory work on transposition. This book provides material that is both entertaining and educational—it is an important contribution to the literature for beginning and intermediate trumpet players. ... show more

  • Nice variety
Good variety but would like some classical songs but it’s got popular hits from many decades.

  • Just as advertised
Some songs seemed like shortened versions

  • Great book!
Bought it for my 13 yr old. He LOVES this book. The first song he tried to play was Sound of Silence. He continues to work on these songs and even plays them for his gaming friends while online.

  • Fun music to add during practices and lessons
10 year old boy likes having a book with songs he wants to play and that he can take to his weekly trumpet lesson.

  • Almost overly simple...
So all the songs are just the main melodies from all of the songs they contain, which is fine I suppose, but they're about as simple as they could be. It is written in a very stiff, sterile way to the point where the sound coming out feels less fun and musical and more clinical like a practice exercise. Beginner trumpeters might have more fun with this but the younger ones probably won't know most of the songs... ... show more
