I have owned many juicers in my years. This juicer is a centrifugal type, and my last juicer was Omega brand, which is an Archimedes screw juicer. I mentioned this only because an Omega is very quiet, and that may have influenced my following comments. This juicer takes a moment to spin up to full speed, which I appreciate as it gets you ready for not only the banshee scream of the thousand watt motor, but it also prevents wear and tear on the juicer itself. The screen is easy to understand and the juicer is easy to offerate with its wide mouth. It has a great little catch cup for the juice and an interesting little spout which flicks up and down, the up position closing off the juice chamber. It's nice because it doesn't dribble juice. If you forget to put your catch picture underneath it, but you only have a moment before the juice chamber overflows. I would have given this juicer five stars for its construction and operation, but I subtracted one star because it's still smells like it's off gassing plastic monomers, or like you've just walked into a harbor freight. It's a bit weird, as I have washed all the parts several times and it's still smells very plasticky. Hopefully the smell goes away soon, but at least my juice doesn't taste weird.

I've had a JL juicer and this is right up there with it. It's a little hard to clean but not a bad juicer especially for the price. This is not bad.

The juicer is large and heavy. It sits solidly on the counter. It does not vibrate or make excessive noise. It is easy to use. The pulp container is roomy. It can handle a lot of fruit and make a large quantity of juice. The juicer has a very large fruit chute that can handle a medium-size apple. Personally, I would not want to juice a whole apple. I like to cut the core out of an apple and throw it away. I once saw a video of microscopic crawly things that hang out around the stem of an apple and I don't care to include them in my juice. I am not sure the large fruit chute actually saves you very much prep time. You still have to peel the citrus and remove the pits from of the stone fruits, but then you can stuff very large pieces of fruit into the chute. You can also put your whole hand into the chute. That does not seem very safe to me and I think you should keep this appliance away from children. The juicer is somewhat easy to take apart and put back together. The metal basket has to fit onto the gear just right, and there are no visual clues for lining up the slots and tabs. The locking arm fits snugly and requires strength to force it into position. The juicer has 5 speeds, which you set using a dial. It's not a simple dial that clicks 1-2-3-4-5, Rather, the dial rotates smoothly, and changes speeds at certain levels, with 5 levels completing the circle. A little screen tells you what level you are at. I think it is a ridiculous way to design a dial, and there is no good reason to put a microprocessor in this kind of kitchen appliance. Overall, I think this is a good juicer that does the job it is intended to do.

Warning, this doesn't come in a discreet box, so if you are buying it as a gift, beware. Before setting up the machine, I took the time to read through the manual and reference back to it when I was setting it all up and operating the machine. I've only used a juicer one time in the past, but I would compare this with a beginner juicer, and I guess you can't expect much for how cheaply priced it is. After juicing it left so much pulp that could have been juiced! It doesn't seem to handle a lot of juicing in one day since it started getting a burning or overheating smell to it.
