These little cubes worked fine for me for starting my lettuce and kale seeds. I soaked them for an hour and then put them in a seed holder with water tray and you can see the results.

These grow sponges are 2.5 inches and have a pretty deep seed hole, which could also be used for cuttings as well. They have good porosity and water retention. If you like this type of grow sponges, you won't be disappointed with these. They are similar to any others I have used. With a bag of 100, I have enough to last a long long time. I use a sharp awl to cut through the sponges from top to bottom without having them fall apart. It gives the seeds a much easier path for their roots. ... show more
