Very cool details on a durable remote control vehicle. This is a medium size car that requires a few AAA batteries. Everything is straight forward and easily works. The coolest part about this model being the door operations. I like that there is a button on the remote that allows the functions of the door. Rubber tires for a quiet and smooth ride indoors. While sitting still, the notice of all the details makes this a joy for me to just look at. I needed a little more space on my shelf for this but it is worth it. I bought this officially licensed BMW i8 RC car as a gift, and this review is based entirely on the detailed report from my two sports car enthusiasts. Overall, this car is a huge win for its looks and detail, but potential buyers need to be aware of its performance limitations. A Visual Masterpiece and Enthusiast's Dream: If your kids (or the adult collector in your life) love classic sports cars, they will be thrilled. The 1:14 scale replica is incredibly faithful to the original BMW i8 design. The sleek lines, high-gloss paint, and detailed interior make it a fantastic display piece that now sits proudly on their bedroom shelf. The absolute best feature is the fully functional gull-wing doors that can be opened and closed with the remote—that detail alone is worth the purchase price. Performance and Terrain Limitations: The remote control is simple and responsive, allowing basic actions like forward, reverse, and turning. However, the fun is heavily dependent on the driving surface. Much like the real sports car, this RC model is not built for off-roading! Our kids have a gravel driveway and a rough street, and the car struggles greatly on anything but smooth, flat concrete. This is the main reason for the four-star rating, as it limits their ability to drive it fast outside. It drives well inside on carpet and tile (the soft rubber wheels are floor-safe), but they simply don't have enough indoor space for serious racing. Battery and Practicality: Be prepared: this car runs on standard AA batteries (5 for the car, 2 for the remote) and is not rechargeable. If your kids drive it for long periods, you will be replacing batteries often, so invest in a large pack! Final Verdict: If you have access to a large, smooth surface—a basement floor, a smooth patio, or a pristine concrete driveway—this is an amazing, fun, and beautiful RC car. If your only options are rough outdoor terrains, be warned that the driving experience will be slow and frustrating. As a gift, it's visually stunning and great fun when conditions are right. We can't speak to the durability, but it seems solid so far. Of course, it spends most of it's time on a shelf!
