Although this was listed as a duvet insert, I use it as a comforter. I would say it is medium weight. It's very soft and keeps me quite warm, but not so warm that it gets too hot. I would say it could be used year round, especially if you turn down the air in the summertime at night (which I do). It's a beautiful pink color, which I love. Great value for the money also. I am very unhappy with this purchase. I bought it a few months ago and put it away for christmas. It came in a vacuum sealed bag inside of a box. I put it in an air tight sealed storage bin with several other gifts I had purchased early as christmas gifts. Well I went to take it out today to wash it for our bed, and the smell was AWFUL. It smelled of mold, yet had no visible mold on the blanket itself. I thought maybe it was in my head, so I proceeded to follow the care instructions and when all was said and done, the blanket was worse then before. The smell was worse, and now there was visible mold on the random spots. I was completely disgusted and threw the whole thing in the garbage. $100 flushed down the drain. Oh my goodness this duvet is awesome! It’s lightweight enough to not make claustrophobics have a panic attack, yet heavy enough to keep you comfortable all year round. The feathers don’t wiggle their way out and poke you with the quills. A must have! I absolutely love it!
