First, my son loves it. He has tested it- it IS waterproof. He has increased his steps daily because he is actively watching and recording his steps, to meet his daily goal. He tracks his heart rate. Great, vibrant color. MOST importantly, he feels more together because he can organize his day better with access to the time (at all times). He felt frustrated in school/ aftercare, when clocks weren't available to let him know how much time he had left for particular activities (I've no idea which rooms wouldn't have clocks- as mom, I'm wondering if this is actually an analog vs digital thing with him). The 'H Band' app was pointless, for us. Two disclaimers: 1) he doesn't have a phone, so- for us- the app was useless. Plus, the app was supposedly required in order for him to change his gender from female* to male- on the watch- but there was no option in the app (that we found) to do so. And because I used my cell to download the app and paired my cell w/ his watch (not bright on my part but what other option was there to access the watch?) he was stopping my music in another room with his watch. Not cool. Lol. 2) there seem to be two apps in the Apple store for H Band. We downloaded the first one available to us. Perhaps the second one was the appropriate one? Not sure. Didn't risk any of it. Apps can be tricky. In fairness, if the second one was the correct one, perhaps it did allow the gender change. Now to the gender change, my son was particularly interested in that feature because there was apparently a notification available for girls for that time of the month. I didn't see this for myself; he explained it to me. He just would rather not have that feature as it wasn't relevant to him. It might, however, be a useful tool* for a young lady. ... show more

This smart watch is great for a child's first watch. It does not have games on it, that could be a plus or minus. The resolution is very clear and crisp. I thought the pedometer was not working but it takes a while to sync. It does not seem to catch all the steps though as my kid was literally running around and had only 4000 steps. The sleep start time cannot be adjusted and was sometimes incorrect. I then just have to manually add the difference in time. The app is called H Band. The watch face can be customized using the app but with limited template options for Date/Time placement. The watch is preloaded with a few styles but the app has about 20 more pre-configured styles. The Female function cannot be removed from the menu unfortunately which bothers my son. I don't used it for anything messaging or social media related. It’s a pretty good quality watch, but trying to pair it to your phone is somewhat difficult. The app is rated lowly and is hard to operate. But when you finally connect it to your phone, it lets you see any notifications that pop up on your phone, and if you’re listening to Bluetooth, you can change the song from your watch. It's very easy to set up, works nicely, and has a clean interface. I'm giving 4 stars because it's pretty good, but overall nothing special compared to other watches in the price range. The standard features can be had in some cheaper alternatives, some of which have larger screens.

I got this watch for my 7 year old daughter, she was so excited, she couldn't stop smiling. This is a great first watch for her. The things I like: The touch screen is responsive, it charges quickly, the screen is nice and bright and clear. There are surprisingly a lot of options to customize this, you can choose analog or digital, and have different options of the placement of date and time, change the brightness, screen timer, if you flick your wrist the screen will come on with that motion. You can set this up without using the app and changed the date & time, this is for my kid, the watch doesn't need access to my phone notifications etc. I did use the app just to be able to customize it because she wanted to choose a background picture, and change the color and positioning of the date/time. I did try the "find my watch" feature just to see what it was about, but the watch only vibrates when you page it, not sure what good that's going to do. The app/watch doesn't let you choose which wrist you'll be wearing on it, some of the other smart watches let you do that. You also can't change your stride, which can impact the pedometer results, once again other watches that is an option on. The pedometer is a little delayed in updating the steps, so just be patient, it is tracking it, just won't show it immediately. The heart beat count is correct too. It comes with a charging cable, it's a magnetic connect to charge it, you just need a brick or something to plug the usb cord in to. I did delete the app after the customizations were complete, because it's my kid's watch. I figure I'll redownload it if she wants to change things up in the future, no point in taking up the space on my phone and allowing the permissions if it's not being used to it's fullest potential. There are a lot of options on here for teens & adults that are competitive with other smart watches on the market. For the price point I'd say you get a lot of bang for your buck.
