Approx assembled dimensions: 7" x 5" x 4.5" (LxWxH); dome height 2"; individual seed cells: bottom 1" x 1", top 1.5" x 1.5", depth 2"; 12 cells per tray; bonus tools and labels included Really nice set of sturdy seed cells, trays and covers. The transparent seed cells and bottom trays make it easy to monitor root growth. The bottom tray can also be used to start seeds in 36mm Jiffy peat pellets, 12 max. The humidity dome disk is the same diameter as other seed starting kits. If you have domes with grow lights, you can pop them out and use them in the ZOUTOG domes. Humidity domes are great for surface sown seeds. Humidity domes should be removed once your seeds start to sprout. Too much humidity after sprouting and you risk fungus and damping off. Your seedlings need not only light but good air circulation to thrive. I use Honeywell HT-904 TurboForce Tabletop Air Circulator Fans at the lowest setting. You can adjust the fans to just the right angle to create a gentle breeze. There's a lot of hype around using tall humidity domes which I don't seed the need for. The 2" tall ZOUTOG domes are just fine. I'm using the ZOUTOG Seed Starter Trays along with dome lights from another kit to grow surface sown seeds that require light to germinate - Impatiens, Geraniums, Petunias, SnapDragons, Gaillardia and Yarrow. This kit is what I need to have my best start on my best garden ever. With 15 of each of trays, domes, and cell trays, these reusable "green houses" allow you to start 180 plants at a time. The clear domes allow for excellent lighting while nurturing seeds and seedlings. The tools are a nice touch, as well as the reusable labels. Good set for seedlings in the basement. Like that includes covers as well as bottoms. That is what drew me to order these in particular. Good for what it is--15 pack is a nice amount.

We were in the market for more seed-starting trays and when we found these from Zoutog, we liked what we saw. They thought of everything when they put this set together. I think what we really liked most was the included vents that let you regulate the humidity levels inside these trays. You also get a lot in this kit. We're talking multiple years' worth of seed starting compartments. That's fine with us as everything stacks together neatly for storage. So, overall we're quite pleased with our choice. This is a great seed starting set for beginners (or any skill level, actually!) It comes with lots of components, but still stacks compactly when not in use. I really love that the cells are clear, so you can see root development.

The media could not be loaded. This seed starter kit has some nice features. It comes with some small little garden tools for working with your seedlings and stakes to identify your seeds. There are three trays. The bottom tray for collecting drainage from seedlings. The bottom tray can also be used for the jiffy pellets. The second tray is for your seedlings with one hole in the bottom for drainage. The top tray is so you can control the condensation as your seeds grow. It can either be closed or open. It has four small holes that can be covered or opened with the included vents that snap into place and twist to the desired open or closed position. This is a really nice set for starting your seedlings at a very reasonable price. ... show more
