  • Zoom PodTrak P8 - The Ultimate Game-Changer for Podcast Production!
Style: Recorder
The Zoom PodTrak P8 has revolutionized my podcast production process. It's a feature-packed podcast recorder that blends superb audio quality, intuitive design, and portability into a device that is accessible for both beginners and seasoned professionals. The first thing that stands out is the sheer audio quality this recorder delivers. With six microphone inputs, it allows for clear and high-quality recording of multiple voices simultaneously. The preamps are incredibly clean, and the noise floor is impressively low, ensuring that your recordings are crisp and free from unwanted noise. The six headphone outputs are another noteworthy feature. This allows each guest to monitor their audio levels comfortably, which is especially useful during a multi-guest podcast recording. The individual volume controls are a thoughtful touch, allowing for a personalized listening experience for each participant. One of my favorite features is the color touchscreen interface. It's clear, responsive, and simplifies navigating the P8's myriad of options. This feature, coupled with the dedicated controls for each channel, makes the operation of this recorder remarkably intuitive, even for those new to podcasting. The unit's portability is another key advantage. Its compact size and the option to power it with AA batteries make the PodTrak P8 an excellent choice for on-the-go podcasters who often record outside of a traditional studio setting. Moreover, the build quality is solid, and the overall design is sleek and modern. It feels robust and durable enough to withstand the rigors of regular use. Also, the integrated sound pads for music or sound effects are a fantastic addition that can truly elevate your podcast's production quality. Given its professional-level features, robust build, and ease-of-use, the PodTrak P8 offers excellent value for money. Whether you're a seasoned podcaster or just starting, this device will undoubtedly enhance your production process and the overall quality of your podcasts. ... show more

  • Fantastic Pro Audio Board!!
Style: Recorder
I am a professional, sound engineer, filmmaker, content creator, podcaster and media consultant. This board is fantastic! I recently purchased and used it in the field on a video shoot and it paired seamlessly with my laptop and Zoom F3 field Recorder. As anyone will tell you redundancy in the field is important and being able to record directly to the SD card on the board is a great feature, but that’s not all, the board will record to the SD card a separate track for each channel (unaffected by the sliders) in addition to a mixdown, this is a great feature as I could record with a boom mic and lav mic simultaneously, send my main feed to the Zoom F3 and pc and leave the back up feed recording on the SD card. A few limitations on the board are that the interface and screen are more along the lines of a prosumer feel and it takes a little while to get used to adjust the gain of each channel, the compressor and deesser are also put together on one fader and the SD card only records in 44.1k so you have to convert your sample type to 48k for video in post - but if you are just using the SD card for back up like I am and recording directly into an F3 and PC this really isn’t much of a concern. ... show more

  • Zoom podtrak p8
Style: Recorder
Thus is pretty amazing piece of equipment. Everything you need to start your podcasting. You have six mic inputs XLR. You have six headphone jacks. You're able you take phone call with their Bluetooth capability. It has a nine sound pad for wavs you save on the SD-card. That can add up to 36 sound bites. The mic and head phone levels are all color coordinated and so many other thing that are positive. Highly recommend this product. ... show more

  • Rodecaster is better
Style: Recorder
This was the start of me realizing ZOOM died. I HAVE A TONE OF THEIR PRODUCTS. H6, F1, F6, their tiny recorder F2 I want to say, every single head for the H6, H1 etc. Pros: -This is feature rich and does technically do more than the RODECASTER Pro out of the box and as a STANDALONE. It has more pads you can use to make a quick soundboard, has more input options, not inputs per se, just more options. -FULL SD Card, not MICRO, that's a take it or leave it thing, 6 of 1 or Half Dozen of the other thing. -BATTERY SLOT, that's so nice, you can run this off of batteries if you want, making it WAY less bulky than the RODECASTER -Technically a smaller footprint. Not by much, but is smaller. -TOP MOUNTED XLR inputs. -Headphone out for EVERYONE -Two more XLR inputs as well. Cons: -This is what broke this for me, 2 line out to PC when using it as a PC mixer. WHY? The rode can do 4. Which realistically is probably the max I'd ever use, two is too little. -Another HUGE CON, this feels CHEAP, it's all plastic and it just doesn't feel sturdy, feels very hollow inside as well. This will slide around on a desk with a pad on it. The feet aren't weighted down enough to grip. Might be heavy enough with the 6 AA batteries it asks of you. -Technically worse sound output, this will record at CD level 16-bit 44Khz where RODE is 24-bit. Which kind of puts it either at the H1 or slightly above it in recording quality. YIKES. Conclusion: Admittedly I'm kind of a jilted Zoom lover, started out loving their products, looked past some of their weird quirks and bad habits like using different USB 2.0 types for their different recorders; H6 uses MINI-B not MICRO, but MINI-B the precursor to MICRO. The F6 uses USB C, this uses USB C, the H8 uses MICRO-B, so weird. THE H6 has xlr/quarter combo jacks but the more expensive F6 doesn't. AND with this product it's just built terribly, yeah it has more GIMMICKY features than the RODECASTER, but the plastic on this still has over-pour spru at the seams. Like they didn't sand/cut the residual plastic that seeped out of the cast, it's not obnoxious, but at $540, you kind of expect better quality. THOUGH, that display is quite nice and is a decent UI they built. BUT if you want my honest suggestion and you're married to the ZOOM name, H8 all the way, not HATE, I just realized that but the H-8 by ZOOM is a smaller version of this with WAY BETTER recording options, I think it might even do FLOAT 32-BIT, has six XLR inputs, two which are combos (xlr and quarter), and you can put the MULTITUDE of ZOOM attachments on the end of it. The H6 is also a good choice, but doesn't have the "Podcast" features of the H8. Also, another option I Looked up was the R20 like the podtracker but more MUSICIAN geared, so no sound pads on the machine but does 4 lines out to the PC. WHICH is nice; also $140 cheaper. H8 will run you under $400. H6 $350. I just can't recommend this. It's not terrible, but only doing 16bit at 44kHz not acceptable. Not this day and age of hi-fi high bandwidth everything. That's just above FM quality. I think that's CD quality if I'm not mistaken. ... show more
