  • Liked this pedal so much, I bought two of them!
Ok, whether you like or dislike this pedal will probably be based on your expectations and what you want to get out of this pedal. Will this Zoom pedal replace your boutique dirt pedals, or vintage modulation pedals? No, and I didn't expect it to. But for what I use it for, it sounds quite good, and I'm willing to sacrifice some really high-end unique tone that a particular pedal has, for the sheer convenience and portability this pedal offers. I'll start off by saying I don't use the built-in amp sims or distortions. I already have an amp and dirt pedal that I like, so I use this pedal for the modulations and time-based effects. I usually one run effect per patch, but it's nice to be able to combine multiple effects for one patch (such as when you want to add an EQ to brighten up a chorus). This pedal offers (in a very compact size) the ability to try and play a TON of different effects. The effects are quite good, although understandably they're not on par with stand-alone Strymon or Eventide effects. But I'm pretty darn sure there's not a person in the audience who would be able to tell the difference, and if there's a grin on my face when I'm playing (and there is with the Zoom pedal), then you know I'm liking what I'm hearing. Big plus point to Zoom for building this pedal to run off the regular 9-volt jack on my pedalboard! Once you figure out how the menu buttons work, it's relatively simple to edit or build patches. ... show more

  • I love this pedal.
It took me a while to find this pedal but I'm glad I finally did. I've had it for 6 months now and still having lots of fun with it. There is a bit of a learning curve so if you don't like noodling with knobs and menus this might not be for you because Zoom packed a LOT into this small unit. This on pedal literally eliminated several other pedals from my board. It contains so many programmable effects it's incredible. Also, at first I blew off the amp models because I assumed that they would not be good but I was incorrect. After some tweaking and stacking with boosts and dirt pedal models I was able to get great sounds for recording and direct to PA. It's a shame that they have been discontinued even though they are still available as of this review. ... show more

  • Good pedal all around
It's a great guitar pedal, but it was a little bit tricky to set up for me. Also, it sometimes turns off when I pass too much sound through it.

  • Value for the money.
After playing around with the MS-70CDR for a couple of years, I decided to get the MS-50G for a little less than the 70CDR. I find the 50G more versatile than the 70CDR. It has most of the CDR features but a few extras like Amp Simulation & Boost, OD/Distortion. Again, the effects here are not as good as the individual analog pedals on the market but they are good enough. If you are a skilled player & love to play around with the control parameters to tweak the sound, then this will serve you well. Some of the FX, I don't really care much for but some work for me. Some of the OD/Distortion sims sound close to my individual pedals. I can always count on a few Reverb, Delay & Modulation pedal sims that work for me. Out of all the amp models, there are only 4 that I can use. Not bad at all. It can hold 50 patches. Each patch can hold 6 effects all at once. You can program patches specifically for each song in your playlist. Or program patches by recreating the sound of all your favorite bands copying their amps & pedals. Or create patches by genre like blues, country, rock/metal etc. something for everyone. If you don't want to spend thousands or even hundreds of dollars in pedals, this is a good solution. Or use it to audition the sound of some pedals you're interested in but don't want to buy blindly. This is a great tool, specially for solid state amps. It might be the only pedal you need for the time being. Add a looper pedal if you're just jamming with yourself. For just a little over a hundred dollars, this is just perfect for the weekend guitar warrior! ... show more

  • Really really impressed.. so good!
I’ve been playing over 20 years. I currently own four amplifiers, about 20 guitars, two paddleboard’s and some fractal products. This pedal is awesome. As a beginner, you can’t go wrong buying this. Is it the best sounding thing you’ve ever heard? No. But it sounds freaking awesome for the price, all the effects are impressive,And it is very versatile. You really could get through a gig with just this thing in a pinch. I’ve added it to my permanent pedalboard as a go to for any effect I don’t have a dedicated pedal for. It fills in all the gaps. It’s also fun to take on trips along with a little headphone amplifier, if you just wanna hear yourself play. You won’t regret buying one of these. ... show more

  • Insane deal for a great item
I think I purchased this item in June for only $15, though it was a month long for shipping, it was the legitimate item and a perfect use for my Darth Vader voice module. Truly great value with many options.

  • For a lightweight Fly/Travel rig
I got this unit because of the superior quality, portability, and sound. I got a Japanese Girl wah Pedal and a Donner mini volume pedal for super lightweight Fly/Travel rig. It's made like a heavy duty stomp box. I'm going to get 2 ZT Lunchbox lbg2 200 watt amps that weigh less than 9 pounds each to complete my small/medium Fly/Travel rig. Go to YouTube and check out Zoom MS 50g "The Basics" tutorial/demo by Randy Hebert and Harry Mae's The Bax Shop splendid demo. I will update this review at a later date. It uses 9v batteries and or 9v power adapter. ... show more
