  • Great Effects Pedal from a Guy who never really used one.
I just purchased this Zoom MultiStomp Effect Box to enhance the dry sounds from my Arturia MicroFreak Synth. The MicroFreak is quite an amazing synthesizer, with endless sonic possibilities but it lacks ANY Effects, not even a simple Chorus. Although I've dabbled with Guitar and Bass my whole life I am not a "real" player on those instruments (I'm an old Drummer) so I was never into Effects Pedals. I just used whatever effects that were built into my amps, oh yeah I did have a cheap Wah Wah Pedal back in 1969. Someone recommended this Zoom MultiStomp. I must admit it is quite impressive and full of effects for such a low price. I also just found out that there is a Free Application called Zoom Effect Manager, available for MAC and PC's that includes and lets you install Effects onto this Pedal from all of the other Zoom Effect Boxes/Pedals. Talk about a powerhouse of Effects from one small box. So aside from just using it for my MicroFreak, I am now thinking of incorporating this little magic Effects Box into my Tascam Model 12 Mixer/Recorder workflow. Channels 1 & 2 have "insert" jacks. I know I can utilize these with a "Y cable" between the Model 12 and the Zoom Box. Using the Y, one for in and one for out on the Zoom, the other single end of the cable carries both the send and return signal back to the Tascam Insert Jack on Channels 1 & 2 (both are mono, unbalanced.) This would give me a slew of extra Effects for my Analog Synthesizers in addition to what the Tascam Model already offers. Anyway very happy wirth this powerful effects box! ... show more

  • More people should know about this pedal!
This thing is the best-kept secret of the time-based effects pedals world. It does absolutely everything you could want and more, for an absurdly low price and at the cost of only one space on your pedalboard. You get up to 6 blocks of effects in any order or combination you want, which includes delays, reverbs, choruses, flangers, phasers, compressors, EQ, and all sorts of crazy stuff I have yet to experiment with. I pair this with a Tonex pedal for amp and overdrive modeling, and with those two I have an entire guitar rig in just two affordable pedals - no big amps or speakers or huge boards to lug around to practice or gigs. The value is off the charts here. I have exactly one minor complaint, and that's that the general UI/UX could be streamlined a bit. Primarily, I wish there was a better way to turn off just one or two effects in a chain within a preset, but this can be worked around by just creating two presets with the various effects you want turned on or off, and swapping between them using the A/B mode. Oh, and that reminds me, one last tip: READ THE MANUAL! This pedal is not the most intuitive pedal I've ever seen but it is very powerful, and you will not understand how to use it if you don't read the manual. ... show more

  • Biggest, Best Bang for Your Buck -- A Must Buy
Pros: 86 customizable effects contained in one pedal using a top-of-the-line DSP audio processing chip Popular effects including ones from BOSS, Electro-Harmonix, Line-6, MRX, Eventide, Strymon, TC Electronics Can be used for electric and bass guitars Heavy-duty "click" bypass button, metal chassis Stereo in AND stereo out Built-in noise gate Built-in Stereo EQ (Both electric guitar and bass) Tap Tempo Trails settings Multiple power sources: Battery, 9 volt adapter and USB mini connector (nice) Graphical interface simulates knobs and switches just like on a real pedal Firmware is USB upgradeable for future pedal improvements / upgrades Cons: Longer learning curve than the standard "twist and set" guitar pedals (but worth the effort) Why would I want this pedal? If you want some of the same effects found in more expensive DSP-based pedals (BOSS, Electro-Harmonix, Line-6, MRX, Eventide, Strymon, TC Electronics) and want to get your feet wet with larger pedal chaining, without the major investment of expensive or higher-cost boutique pedals. It is not just a great bargain for these effects alone, it is a great effect pedal period. Other reasons to consider this pedal: This pedal allows consolidation of multiple guitar pedals - EQ, Chorus, Delay and Reverb; it supports stereo in and out (along with mono in/out) and once-setup, it allows for some incredibly amazing combinations of high-quality guitar effects. If you are in the market for any or all of these effects, you have to buy this pedal. It's a great bargain for the amount of power and flexibility this pedal provides. Once you get past the slight learning curve for setting up your presets, it is a very fun and reliable pedal to use on a daily basis. Aside from the cool effects, what are some of the other benefits of this pedal? If you are looking for a clean boost (+5db) an EQ pedal or noise gate If you want the ability to have multiple pedals per memory preset and jog between them Able to re-order effects in chain, resulting in different effect combinations If you want the "Best of the Best" reverb effects in one pedal ... show more

  • I mean it does what it says...
I ended up returning this pedal, not because it didn't work well, its just... too much. That being said, I bought it for synths, and it works perfectly, both in mono and in stereo. It has tons of effects that you can link in presets, and you can save multiple presets, and it sounds pretty decent, and what you get for the price is pretty insane, compared to the price of standalone pedals. The problem is, it's just not easy to use. It's counterintuitive when playing synths to have to stop and try to dive through a menu system and find a delay or a particular reverb or whatever. The ease of just clicking on a single pedal and adjusting a few manual parameters on a pedal is missing from this. I imagine if one spent a bit of time setting up presets and having everything ready to go, this could work, but I have found that I prefer to have individual effects pedals to address different effects I bought this as a starter effects pedal, and it works great for that. Personal preference dictates that this unit is not for me, but it could be great for you. ... show more
