  • CORE is AMAZING!!
The Core is amazing. First a bit of background. I have played guitar for over 40 years. These days I play mostly solo acoustic. I purchased the Core with an expression pedal to replace several older pieces of equipment. I have not been disappointed. I chose the separate pedal because I don’t like my expression pedal locked in one place. The Core does everything. If you don’t think it does something, you probably haven’t figured it out yet or have done something incorrectly. First bit of advice is read and print the manual off the HeadRush website. I can’t say this would be the best choice for a novice, and it is not plug in and play. You need an understanding of the equipment parameters you are asking it to simulate as well as the the key you are playing in if you intend to auto tune. The unit is all metal except the touch screen and feels very durable. It’s larger than I expected and given the build quality, it’s also heavier than I thought it would be. Whoever designed this has obviously spent a great deal of time on stage. It does EVERYTHING! Guitar, vocals, and has extremely well thought out features. Once you set up a rig, and fine tune each of the blocks, (effects) the sound quality is amazing. That being said, it can take time to get your sound just the way you want it. It’s a bit like having a 40 way adjustable driver’s seat. Editing is basically like editing a PdF. Just remember to Save. It is also helpful to review a list of effects, amps and cabinets so you know what HeadRush calls each of them. If you can’t find what you like, you can download or create your own sound in a few different ways. The core is able to run straight into a powered PA if you opt to leave the mixer behind. Input and output levels for guitar and vocals can be controlled from the touchscreen as well as controlling which outputs go where and at levels. The only problems I have had are some WI-FI connectivity. It actually seems to work best connected via cell phone. The other glitch is an occasional delay when switching between rigs. Not a big deal because it is between songs or when switching a rig to use with a different guitar. It would be nice to be see all effects when assigning hardware buttons, but that’s where having the manual available comes in handy. So far, (about a month) I’d say HeadRush has created a remarkably well thought out and capable piece of professional level equipment for this price point. ... show more

  • Guitar/Vocal effects, Drums/looper, awesome
I purchased a month ago Headrush Core. all is good as I see it on Youtube videos. Only thing I wish it had 2 more foot switches on the top to control drums & looper or tracks without going back & forth. its big enough to add those switches. Other than that, sounds are fantastic, drums sounds decent( can be better) you can save loops with drums & recall is awesome. you can upload your own tracks in the unit. Vocal effects are also nice & professional. You can use separate midi pedal to control Drums & looper. Very good for one man band too. ... show more

  • Good value well made
Great unit. Takes a little while to get good at it but worth it.

  • A Game-Changer — Inspiring, Expressive, and Built Like a Workhorse
The Headrush Core has completely transformed my guitar rig. It’s hands down one of the most powerful and versatile multi-effects processors I’ve ever used. The amp and cab models are incredibly realistic, and the tone-shaping options are deep yet intuitive. It responds beautifully to dynamics, which makes it a dream for expressive playing — from bluesy bends to fusion-style legato runs. What really stands out is how reliable and flexible this unit is. I’ve built several rigs on it now, including ones that emulate Eric Johnson, Greg Howe, and Andy Timmons — and it nails the feel and tone. The fact that I can stack overdrives, tweak delay timing, and sculpt EQ curves all in one compact unit is a total game changer. The touchscreen interface is fast and responsive, editing is smooth and enjoyable, and the sound quality is absolutely studio-grade. Whether you’re gigging, recording, or crafting tones at home, this unit delivers consistently and effortlessly. It’s also worth noting — I haven’t even touched the looper yet, which is one of its headline features! That tells you how deep and inspiring the Core already is before even unlocking its full potential. If you’re on the fence, don’t hesitate. The Headrush Core is inspiring, expressive, and built to handle whatever style or setup you throw at it. A true workhorse for modern guitarists. ... show more

  • Intermittent Power Failure and Lengthy Warranty Process
After about one month of daily use (several hours per day), my Headrush Core began losing power intermittently. It would shut off when I picked it up from the floor or even when stepping on a footswitch. After troubleshooting, it appeared the issue was related to the 12-volt power input port rather than the cable itself. A second issue developed with the touchscreen. The upper-left corner began making a clicking sound, as if the display was slightly separating from the chassis, particularly in colder weather. Because I was outside the 30-day return window, I had to go through inMusic’s warranty process. There is no phone support—only a web-based ticket system. My initial ticket went unanswered for several weeks. After submitting another request and going through multiple email exchanges, I was approved to send the unit in for repair at my expense. The display was replaced; however, the original power issue persisted. The unit continued to shut off when pressing a footswitch or moving it. I contacted support again and was approved to return it a second time, this time with shipping covered. The unit has now been received, but I have been informed that replacement could take up to four weeks. While I understand that service timelines can vary, it has been difficult not having clearer communication or a sense of urgency throughout the process. In my opinion, the 12-volt external power design would benefit from a non plastic, chassis-mounted or locking connector. While it may function adequately in a stationary home studio environment, I would have concerns relying on it for live or stage use. ... show more

  • Great guitar FX processor, didn't arrive in best shape.
I got this item used. When it arrive all I got was the unit, the outside box with at least having the stirafoam packing and the power cable. This is kind of lacking. What made this worse was as you can see in the picture next to the screw a nice little scratch on the unit and the screen had a few very minor scratches I could live with. What's bad is the renewal service didn't do a factory reset so I was stuck with the other person's old settings until I get around to doing a factory reset myself. At best I'd say this was in good condition, but not very good condition like advertised and in my opinion it should have costed a little less money. Next time I'm buying a brand new model so I don't get these headaches. Sometimes saving a few dollars isn't worth it. Other than the complaints I mentioned it's a great multi-effects guitar processor with many features vocal processing with auto tune, with the latest patch 5.0 it has a drum machine that's great for home practice, alot of amp, cab and pedal models to choose from, a lot of different input/output options like Bluetooth, WIFI, MIDI, XLR, expression pedal inputs and and a FX loop, best of all amp, cab and pedal cloning and the ability to load in impulse response cabs. ... show more

  • Awesome
I have been using the headrush mx5 for about a year and have loved it. The core is cheaper than the prime but the only difference is it doesn't have an expression pedal (id rather use my own anyway), the prime has a few more foot switches and is bigger and heavier. The brains of the core are the same as the prime so all effects, amps, are the same. The touch screen is easy to see and the drop and drag is easy and intuitive. The sounds are amazing.. I think I will invest in the headrush flat response speaker to optimize. I can't sing.. but I am going to get around and try the vocal effects that are onboard.. I have heard they are very good. ... show more

  • Best Bang for the Buck
So I wanted a modeling unit that was super easy to learn to use unlike most of them taking some form of a mad scientist degree to learn to use. This unit is rock solid and pretty much untouchable for the price for what it has to offer. First off 7 inch touch screen, built in looper and drum machine. If that's not enough it's got vocal effects and powered microphone input. But best of all it has full cpu and processing power no matter which unit you choose. Each step down offered by the competitors is a loss in cpu and processing power but not with Headrush. I would recommend to anyone wanting to enter and learn the modeling world. Oh and both the prime and core models offer the antares auto tune, something that no one else offers. ... show more
