Description

The ZIWI Difference: We believe a holistic pet food starts with only the best natural ingredients. Rooted in New Zealand culture, our farmers and fisherman believe wholeheartedly in their role as kaitiaki; or being guardians of the land and sea. Ethical isn’t just a standard—it’s our way of life. Perfect for carnivores, our PeakPrey recipes are rich in meat and organs in authentic ratios, free from unnecessary carbohydrates. Proudly made by passionate Kiwis, nothing delights us more than crafting recipes that bring joy and peace of mind to pets and their guardians. BEEF RECIPE: A clean and simple moisture rich recipe, featuring world-class New Zealand grass-fed and free-range beef. Serve as a topper or complete meal. Your dog or puppy is sure to enjoy each and every bite. FAQs Can ZIWI Peak be fed as a topper or mixed with another food? There’s no wrong way to feed ZIWI, it works great as a complete meal or as a topper for a nutritional boost on your existing food. Why is there sometimes variability in my ZIWI Peak food? ZIWI Peak uses natural ingredients, handcrafted in small batches, featuring high inclusions of meat and organs and excludes artificial fillers, dyes and preservatives. This, in combination other natural factors such as age and seasonality of the ingredients we use, often results in variability of shape, size, color, texture and odor. This variation is perfectly normal and is an indicator as to how natural the food really is! How do I transition my dog to Ziwi? ZIWI Peak is nutrient dense. A little goes a long way, don’t be surprised if you feed less! Introduce a new recipe slowly over 6-8 days, gradually increasing the amount of the new recipe while decreasing the old, until you are fully transitioned. Please refer to our transition guide on the packaging. Can I rotate my dog through different ZIWI recipes? We recommend a gradual transition between proteins, to minimize the potential for digestive upset. Please refer to our transition guide on the packaging.

  • Expensive, but well worth it and Ziwi Peak's Customer Service is among the best out there.
Flavor Name: Beef Size: 2.2 Pound (Pack of 1)
I saw Ziwi Peak a few years ago at a local Pet Store, but avoided buying it due to the cost at the time which was much lower than it is now, in retrospect I didn't buy it because I wasn't really educated on the proper diet for Dogs, which is a common problem in this day and age, but with the Internet people are becoming more educated. Initially when my Dog was a puppy and into a few years of age, we stuck with Purina Puppy Chow and then tried several Pet Store brands some not so good and what's advertised on TV, big brand names and some obscure brands sold only online, all of which contained grains, carbs and veggies among a mix of meat proteins and God knows what else. A number of years ago after my Dog had some health issues for bladder infections, the Vet prescribed a food just for that reason, very expensive and after further education I saw the #1 ingredient was Corn, after feeding my Dog this for a month or so, I stopped. I took it upon myself to feed higher quality pet foods and the issue went away and never returned. I also got a new Vet. Dogs are carnivores based on their non-domesticated ancestors, sure they can eat some of it, but having it as their main diet or a high %, is not what nature intended for them. Over the years since, I tried several higher quality brands in an effort to curb some paw licking and chewing that a became frequent, Vet said there was a yeast infection and mentioned it could be food. I went to Grain Free, I tried many different brands, Wellness, Taste of the Wild, Nutrisca, Orijen, Acana and Fromm to name a few. I actually lost count of all the foods I tried, I removed Chicken from the diet thinking there was a Chicken Allergy, helped a little but paw licking and nibbling continued. Also my Dog had a yeast issues as I could still smell it very faintly. There were times when the food totally was a loss of interest and would not be finished at dinner time. I then switched to a grain free all fish diet, for a while, tried a couple other brands, Zignature being the last, but I had to stop due to the % Sodium. I then received word from the Vet that my Dog has early stages of congestive heart failure, which requires daily meds now to manage. I also, on my own, began to research and also blamed myself for the diet I was feeding. I read that diets low in Taurine and also diets that are Lamb & Rice based can cause deficiencies in Taurine. Along with this, it's imperative that dog's with CHF be given a low sodium diet, most dog foods on the market are loaded with crap on top of Salt, like why is it needed? Some sodium perhaps, but high % of it or just plain old "Salt" listed in the ingredients, is too much. So after blaming myself for the condition my Dog had, I went on a search to find a low sodium food that met my requirements, I tried a few, but most were still too high in Sodium % or did not even list it, after reaching out to them via e-mail I found out most were too high. I then found Ziwi Peak, and their website is very clear, shows the sodium and also added Taurine benefit which my Dog needs, I ordered a small bag and fed it mixed in for a week, noticed how my Dog devoured it and left the old kibble for last or didn't even want to finish it. This led to another bag and another, eventually I had switched over to Ziwi Peak 100%. It's been over a month now, my Dog looks forward to feeding time, devours the food and leaves nothing behind. Stool volume is way down, no more fillers or things that are only detrimental, just like nature intended. Also noticed a huge improvement in the breath department, along with no issues with poop time or loose stools. Skin is improving, nibbling and paw chewing is declining. All the noted benefits of the food is coming into fruition and I hope it continues. My Dog loves Ziwi Peak and also the Ziwi Peak treats. The cost is high, but when you weigh out the positives and vet visits you may avoid due to feeding it along with having a happy healthy Dog, it's a small price to pay. Also as noted by Ziwi Peak, the portion sizes are smaller than what's typical of foods containing loads of fillers and carbs, and believe it or not the recommended daily feeding size quite adequately satisfies my Dog's hunger and also the included measuring cup in each bag is a nice touch. I also have to commend Ziwi Peak's Customer Service, I received one bag that had a different smell than what I was use to, was concerned though there was nothing probably wrong with it, appears a tear or wasn't properly sealed. After contacting Ziwi Peak via e-mail, I got a response in a less than 1 hour from the Co-Founder of the company, who offered to send a replacement bag, when it arrived not only did they replace the bag, but they also included a free bag of Ziwi Peak Venison Treats which made my Dog very happy. So I would rate their Customer Service #1, which matches the quality of the food as well. ... show more

  • The best dry dog food you can get.
Flavor Name: Mackerel & Lamb Size: 5.5 Pound (Pack of 1)
This is the best dry dog food you can get. It beats any kibble. Just read the ingredients: no fillers or grains, grass fed beef and lamb, and wild green mussels from New Zealand. And it's air dried as oppossed to heated like kibble which means that the protein and ingredients are less denatured.

  • Beware higher price for this product than in 2023.
Flavor Name: Chicken Size: 2.2 Pound (Pack of 1)
Amazon raised its price for this product from $23.58 to over $29.00. It is available directly from Ziwi at last year's $23,58, The product is terrific but Amazon's dynamic predatory pricing is unfortunate.

  • Titan Loves his ZiwiPeak Venison!
Flavor Name: Venison Size: 2.2 Pound (Pack of 1)
This stuff is so worth it, and when you do the math, it's actually a bargain. More on that later.... Some background: My dog is an 80 pound American Pit Bull Terrier. He is the love of my life (ok, he's a tie with my husband). He has horrible allergies, both environmental and food. Because of this, his doggie dermatologist (yep, there's dermatologists out there just for animals!) has him on an elimination diet of just venison. Being that I completely spoil my dog I've been looking for high quality venison treats to feed him when I stumbled upon the ZiwiPeak venison on Amazon. I'd not heard of ZiwiPeak, but when I looked at how few ingredients were in there and did a little research, I decided it sounded about as close to bambi in a bag as I could get (sorry, I know that's a sad visual...). So, I ordered a few bags of the ZiwiPeak Venison treats. Titan went mad for them. It was as if I was sprinkling him with magical venison fairy dust and he would do anything so long as I would continue to shower him with those heavenly venison squares. You see, it's raw air dried venison, and it comes in these little compact squares about the size of a dime of venison jerky. But it's still soft, almost velvety, as it is still raw. Titan suffers from a tiny case of separation anxiety, so recently when I had to leave him alone for a while and I was fresh out of bambi bones, I put a handful on top of his food and tip toed towards the door. He barely lifted his head from the bowl. For insurance, I threw a half empty bag of the ZiwiPeak Venison treats on the floor just as I slipped out the door...he noticed the bag, but kept eating from his bowl, pushing it around and digging through the kibble with his nose to sniff out the ZiwiPeak squares as if a pig searching for truffles in the south of France. When I returned a couple of hours later, I searched the house for evidence that he wasn't pleased with my departure. Apart from the garbage being knocked over (my fault for leaving it full, bad mom!) the place was fine. Later when I went to put down his dinner, Titan sat at the entrance of the kitchen and stared at the cabinet where the venison treats were kept. When I told him to go and eat, he stayed put, staring at the cabinet. I added a little canned venison to entice him. No go. Finally I poured a little bit of the ZiwiPeak Venison on top and he ran to his bowl and started eating. Now, he will not go near the bowl unless there is a hefty portion of ZP in there. Figuring I could save some money, I moved up from the treats to the 2.2 pound bag. Once I went through that in a week, I moved on to the 11 pound bag. I haven't made the complete transition to just ZP in his bowl, as I'm still mixing it in with his old stuff, but it's just a matter of time. The vet has had Titan on one of those vet prescribed diets, which, when I looked at the ingredients on that bag, not only could I not pronounce most of them, but the list was HUGE and the first ingredient was POTATO! But back to my point: I've bought venison treats for Titan that were anywhere from $10 for 5 or 6 ounces, (which translates to $30 per pound) to $44 per pound for venison jerky (and I paid it!!). So, at $9 a pound, the ZiwiPeak Venison is actually a bargain. And, it is high quality. Not to mention, you know how sometimes your dog eats a bowl of food and then throws up and the vomit looks like a mixture of spongy kibble and foam? Titan's never had that with this stuff. I think it's because the ZP is so close to the natural thing that there isn't anything in there to cause it to expand which then causes him to throw up. So yes, overall, I'm very happy with the product line. I think it's a pretty cool thing that I can use his food as treats and he still goes mad for it (much like a toddler with cheerios!). I'll be experimenting with some of the other varieties once I'm allowed to introduce other foods per the doggie dermatologist; and I will be trying out the ZP canned as well. ... show more
