Easy to activate as far as paint pens go. I followed the directions on the enclosed card. A step that was new to me was to "release air" after shaking and before pushing points down to start the paint flow, by pressing the tip of the pen, held upright, against the top of the cap. I guess it helped, I haven't had any problems, but I haven't used them very long, yet. Performance for my needs (covering line art in adult coloring books) was not good. The paint is too transparent. They also are not opaque when writing on black paper. They paint very well on white paper so if you are using them to fill coloring book art, good to go. If you need to cover lines, as I said, they don't not until the third or fourth pass over the same line. :-( I have not tried them on glass or rocks and won't because that is not what I bought them for. Just paper and that is listed as one of its uses. May return them, undecided at this point since I tested all of them to be sure there weren't any dried-out pens. I think the paint is just too thin. Save your money and spend more on Poscas if coverage is what you need. ... show more

I just got these and don’t usually write a review so quick, but so far, I really like these. It’s cool to watch the paint fill the nib, especially without it overflowing. Writes nicely! I’ll be back in a few weeks to a month & update my review.

I wanted to try these as an alternative to the high price of Posca. i was actually very surprised. I have tried a lot of paint pens over the years, most ending up in dry tips and a cartridge still fully loaded of inaccessible paint. I have been so happy with these and even waiting months in between use they continue to work! The only thing I could say is that the red is not what you would consider a red but more of a dark pink, ok for my use but a bit disappointing if you want a true red. ... show more
