The media could not be loaded. This is my first time using oil paint and this is how my painting of Jackie Chan came out and I really love it but the thing is it doesn’t have the color black I didn’t notice that. Just be aware of that. But overall it’s really good and ya should get it. I tried mixing to make the color black but it didn’t turn out well at all but never mind that. It’s a good price and a good start if you want to oil paint. It takes a few days or 2 to dry completely tho. So protect the painting in the drying process for like 2 or 3 days. Tip! Don’t use too much refined linseed oil or it will take a lot of more time(days) to dry because the paint itself already contains some refined linseed oil in it. ... show more

    • I Really Wanted To Like These Oil Paints, It Didn't Happen

I have been an artist /painter for over 40 years and I've used various paint by many companies. Being a serious artist, I tend to lean towards the higher quality and pricer paint because I can depend on the higher color load of the paint. If I'm using paint , I thin it out, mix it to create other colors and work the paint to achieve the look that I'm after. With this paint, I was very disappointed for several reasons. The first was the messiness of this paint, it separated as you squeeze it out of the tube. At first I thought it was just one of the colors but I soon discovered they were all like this, oil would come out of the tube before the paint did and not just a smidge of oil but a glob of it each time I tried to use it. Oil was on my hands, the brushes and it got so bad I could hardly hold the brush! This set wasn't cheap so I contacted Amazon and explained this to them (even though it's return window had closed) and they were 100% understanding of this and refunded my money. I threw the rest of it out because it was too much trouble even to salvage the basic colors of Titanium white and the black for mixing with other paint. Sorry this was a "no go paint" for me and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. ... show more

I have the essentials pallet and the impressionist pallet. I love both of these pallets, the colors are great and they look even better when you paint with them. They are super easy to work with and have amazing results for the price. I was pretty skeptical at first because of the price, but after I tried them I was in shock. The paints tubes are very large and the quality is great. I did notice that the oil paint from the impressionist pallet had more of a smell than the oil paint from the essentials pallet. I would also recommend possibly switching the metal paint tubes in the essentials pallets the plastic? I noticed the sometimes the metal would get small homes in some of the tubes and the oil will come out of it. Besides that the paints are amazing. I use these paints almost everyday and they have lasted me months. I highly recommend this paint to anyone! ... show more

Nothing but compliments to the quality of the materials. I haven't picked up oil painting in years, and getting back into it was a lot more fun than I had imagined, and Zen Art really delivers in terms of highest level of quality and safety in its paints. You know the feeling when you get a great element for your medium, and this is it - if you're on the fence, I'd recommend trying these out, you'll be very pleasantly rewarded. I also got a free gift with one of the inserts that came with the paint, which was a lovely, travel sized sketchbook, complete with built in folder at the back, and a little elastic band to keep it all together. The speckled ink design along the papers edges is a nice little touch, and I'm always happy to have extra sketchbooks around. The combination of the quality of the materials, plus this nice little surprise, is forming a very solid rapport between myself and Zen Art. Thanks so much! :) ... show more

I'm honestly the last person you want to read a review from if you're looking for what a real artist thinks, but despite my incredibly limited artistic ability I have been trying to engage more with the preteen through her language, which means spending time doing artsy things together. She is already a fantastic painter, but given her age I am hesitant to go too crazy with different types of paints and pallets because they are so pricey. So when she began asking for some oil paints, I really didn't know what to expect but came across ZenART and thought (hoped) it looked decent for the price. We were not disappointed by these paints! The thing I was most pleased with was the size of the tubes. These are not the little sample size tubes she got from a set from some craft supply store, these are full sized tubes that should last for a few significant pieces. The thing she liked the most was how well the colors worked together. She had a lot of fun trying different amounts to make so many additional colors and shades, and she created a really cool abstract piece with them. (I won't tell you what I created...the colors were pretty, the art I did not so much.) The colors are very vivid and bright and seem to spread very well without having to use too much paint. I have no experience with oil paints to compare these to, but my preteen and I were both very pleased with this set and will be getting other ZenART sets in the future! ... show more
