I originally got this to upgrade a low-end disc brake mountain bike that didn't have quick release. The inserts are too short for this purpose as disc brake bikes usually require a longer stem. I'm glad I checked before pulling apart the rear wheel on the bike. It would be nice if the listing included more dimensions. Instead, I put them on my son's older road bike and they worked well. We typically go on longer rides and need to carry a few big wrenches in case he gets a flat. The toolkit just got much lighter. Expect between a half and full hour of work to get both wheels done. A few minor issues... As other reviewers have said, the bearing covers that come with this kit are very lightweight. I kept the originals because they just looked more sturdy. Also, there could be some minor safety issues if your frame and fork were not originally designed for quick release. My son's bike had wheel retainers on the front wheel, which we also kept in place. This is a great upgrade for bikes where they fit, especially if you go on longer rides where you may need to fix a flat far away from your base. And they're still a good value if all you need is the skewers. ... show more

This is the first non-brand-name piece on my Bottecchia racing road bike. Zacro is not a name I'm familiar with and the components on my Italian bike are pretty much all Campy. But I've removed the Campagnolo skewers and replaced them with these aluminum alloy skewers and saved several ounces of weight on my bike! They're just plain skewers, albeit anodized black (a nice touch) but the weight savings come up to about 35% of wheel weight! They're well made and seem very durable. I like them! ... show more

The Axles and Skewers appear to be of decent quality, just what you would expect this price point, but the packaging is lacking. They come packaged not in a small cardboard box that would offer a reasonable level of protection but in a plastic bag which offers next to none and as a result both of the dust caps were crushed during shipping. See pictures. Fortunately, I won't be needing those. I plan on re-using my old ones as those are a better more precise fit for my wheel hubs. ... show more

    • Replaces some dodgy skewers on a used bike

I have to admit that I mostly needed the quick release skewers, but the axle shafts are a nice bonus. Once I get a quiet weekend, I will take some time to replace and re-grease the shafts on the original wheels. The skewer handle is easy to grab and lock into place. I am confident that these will hold the wheels in place and that has worked out well over several rides so far. While it is nice that the skewer handle has a cutout (that saves a bit of weight?) that doesn’t matter much since I am using these on an older bike. When I received the item the dust caps were dented on the edge, but that didn't matter because they were also too small for the older sunrace hubs I have. I was able to use my old dust caps in thier place though everything else worked as intended without issue.
