I paid extra for the telescoping version as described on the page. The description and product photos even show it. I posted a question here on the page, and got a response back from the seller saying "it does not telescope". What the heck?! False advertising then. There is a nut that appears like it would allow the item to telescope. As mentioned I paid extra for the telescoping version. However I can't get the nut to turn. The clip for storage rests RIGHT on the nut. At first I thought that was good as it would prevent it from coming loose. Now I can't get it to turn and if it won't telescope then screw it. I'll keep it and use it as a spare and will probably purchase a better net. The photos also show it floating so am I to understand it also does not float? Have not tested it yet. The mesh is not string it is nylon mesh which to me is inferior to string. It seems like it would be okay for inland fishing of fish up to 15 lbs. but we will have to see. In my opinion it is not light weight, but actually sort of heavy. I do like the folding net head. It appears like it will save room on storage of the net. I also like that it has a lanyard and comes with a small carabiner type keychain clip on the lanyard. It arrived in a large zip lock bag which I am keeping for storage. That way my other gear doesn't smell all fishy. I read a lot of reviews before buying this, so was disappointed about the telescoping not working and paying extra for it as well as the mesh being cheap nylon (flat cut) mesh rather than a weaved string net. I might have missed that part so it could be my fault there. However the folding is nice and the lanyard so gave it two stars rather than one. What a bummer!

the net is incapable of staying collapsed- would continuously open while walking- would be great for boat fishing, but is a pain when you hike in somewhere.
