Honestly for the price I was expecting something a little less substantial. In the ad it shows one tall unit. Because of the way my closet is set up, tall wouldn’t work so I just hoped I could make a couple shorter units, and it turned out perfectly! I will say when I took it out of the packaging and saw all those pieces I was pretty turned off. Don’t let the number of pieces scare you, once you get the first one or two levels done it goes pretty quickly and is simple to assemble. Advice: keep the pieces sorted and organized and things will go much quicker. I worked on it in a few sessions just when I had the spare time and it probably took me an hour and a half total to put it together. I have my shoes pretty close together and I have probably 34 pairs on the racks, including maybe 6 pair of tall boots, and I have some space to spare. Thinking about buying another for the spare room to store blankets and pillows. Would definitely recommend. ... show more

I'm very happy with this purchase. These were easy to assemble, took my son maybe and hour to complete. For the most part, they are customizable for shoes such as boots (just remove a shelf). It is very sturdy and lightweight. The bars are metal with plastic joints. My only complaint is the shelves for the most part are not quite tall enough for standard shoes. My teens and my husband struggle to put away and take out their shoes as there isn't quite enough clearance, so the fit is quite snug. If they could provide maybe an inch more or headspace per shelf then it would be perfect. ... show more

    • It has it's uses, but you need to know...
Ok, so this product has some ups and downs. If you are looking for something that is pretty narrow to fit in a tight space that will hold tons of mens' and womens' shoes of the regular variety, then you will probably like this rack. However, if you have giant size 13 foot like I do, and have big huge steel-toed boots, then you are going to have an issue here. Also, if you live in a area with a lot of mud or have rambunctious children who roll in it like pigs, then this rack might not be for you because the material the shoes will be sitting on will get really dirty really fast and look really terrible unless you take all of the shoes off and then take some soapy water and a cloth and clean material regularly. To overcome problem #1, I was fortunately able to simply turn the 10-tier rack into a 7-tier rack by taking out a shelf or two but leaving the exterior support poles in place to increase the height of a few rows. The only drawback it that the part where the rods would be installed looks tacky without the hardware in it. Oh well, at least it works. As for issue #2, I don't have that one, but someone out there looking to buy this might appreciate the insight. Now about the assembly. It's not hard, as I was able to do it in about 20 minutes. However, the plastic pieces that contain the metal rods are pretty tight on, so you ladies out there who are not body builders are going to be saying some 4-letter words while putting it together. One piece of advice I have for assembling it is to put half of it together and then put the other half together separately and then join the two sets of 5 tiers at the end to complete it. The higher it gets, the more unstable it becomes when you apply a lot of pressure and the more likely you are to break something, so this approach works pretty good. Most shoes, in general, do not weigh a ton, but if you have a whole rack full of giant heavy shoes like the ones I wear for work, then you are going to have a stability issue, and I would recommend anchoring the rack to a wall so that it will not topple over. It's not like this thing weighs enough to kill anyone, but a small child might have to change their underwear if it falls on them. :P ... show more
