  • A Useful Book for Anyone Starting Any Business
Format: Kindle
This book has a very catchy title, implying. It’s a book written for how females can run a pest control business, which is a unique twist on the otherwise typical roles of a generic book on how to run and execute any business plan. Just spoken, 25 pages give us an overview of how to set up and run a pest control business. 50% of what the author says about this business could be applied to any business you want to start: insurance, real estate, retail sales, or other companies. The advice in the book could be used by any business about accounting software, the business software industry, legal standards, how to establish a business, what type of business to set up, among others, even the use of SEO to acquire new customers. While reading this book, I kept thinking it could be applied to other businesses, and from that point of view, it’s quite dark and generic. It was also beautifully illustrated with charts showing all sorts of symbols and images of people in the pesticide business. If you want a quick overview of the pesticide business, this is an excellent book. ... show more

  • A must-read for aspiring entrepreneurs beyond pest control
Format: Kindle
I was pleased to learn that there is a book available on running a pest control business. I've always been incredibly curious about what it all entailed. There is a British TV series starring Steve Coogan called ‘Saxondale’, where Saxondale is a former roadie who now runs a pest control business and is in and out of all kinds of pest-related situations. I've always been interested in the people who help us manage these distressing little house invaders. A relative told me he got into this field because of its autonomy. This book confirms that, and is an insightful guide for anyone looking to enter or grow within the pest control industry. The title itself is enough to catch your attention, but the content delivers even more than it promises. The book focuses on practical advice rather than traditional (and outdated) norms. The author’s personal anecdotes create a relatable narrative that motivates readers, regardless of their background or level of experience in pest control. The guide breaks down the complexities of running a pest control business into manageable, actionable steps. It covers everything from starting up and managing finances to hiring staff, marketing strategies, and scaling the business. Each chapter has practical tips, real-world examples, plus thoughtful insights that make the lessons easy to understand and implement. Readers will walk away with not just a business plan but also the motivation and tools to overcome obstacles and lead with purpose. Whether you’re a seasoned pest control professional looking to refine your operations or a complete beginner exploring the field, this book provides value at every level. The humor and candor keep the reading lighthearted, even as the advice remains laser-focused and practical. ... show more

  • A thorough introduction to the steps needed to start your business
Format: Kindle
Hat’s off to the author for overcoming hardship, building a successful business, and sharing her wisdom with the world. As an entrepreneur and father of two sons needing a career, I’ve often wondered what’s involved from a regulatory standpoint. This book is not what I was hoping for in that department. What it is, in my opinion, is a good outline for an instructional book, without the instruction. All the things you’ll need to do to start and run your business are mentioned in the book, but there’s very little accompanying info on how to go about accomplishing those things. So it’s WHAT you need to do, but not HOW to do it. Nevertheless, the author does list things most people new to starting a business would probably never think about needing to address in order to be successful…including a strong work ethic. Finally, a publishing critique: this book doesn’t seem to have been properly formatted for digital devices, making a little tricky to adjust the size of the print and access the pages in order. ... show more

  • Interesting, but does not deliver
Format: Kindle
This book was very interesting, for the most part. I am a little confused about what I was supposed to learn from reading it, especially from the chapter titled "Pest Control 101: what you need to know." The chapter laid out the learning objectives, but did not deliver a single one. Instead, it just moved on to another topic: Hiring Help. The writing in this book is all over the place. Some sections are very easy to read and flow smoothly. Other sections are filled with run-on sentences, missing punctuation, or just jump from one sentence to the next with no period or capitalization. I loved the idea of this book, but it is either missing a lot of pages, or simply did not give the information on purpose. I can not recommend this book to anyone wanting to start a pest-control business. ... show more
