Bought one of these 4 months ago, well pleased. Had purchased cheaper brand (made in China) a few years ago and the swivel base broke, tried several avenues and couldn't get a replacement part, don't think it would have held up in any case. My advise is, if you need a vise, bite the bullet and purchase a quality product, you get what you pay for. Also bought the 5.5" instead of the 4.5" model, originally thought it was a bit too large, it's not. In my case bigger has proven to be better. ... show more

very solid product. the lack of rotation makes it slightly less versatile than some other vices, but the simpler design makes it much stronger. I tend to abuse mine, the vice and a mini sledge let me shape (cold work) 3/16" steel, didn't need to soften anything with heat.
