  • Fun to play with for cross stitch!
I am trying to use this product for cross stitch, for which it isn’t intended. Initially, I docked one star for having it break while working with it, and it was very difficult to unravel without cutting the thread. I went ahead and gave it the last star because I am happy with the results, ultimately. It’s a challenge, but I do like the way it looks. For cross stitching, I do not recommend trying to pull apart the strands (the amount of patience required was not reproducible). It did work nicely on linen as a single thick strand (almost like pearl cotton) and has beautiful, vibrant color. It would probably also work with needlepoint and lower count Aida, like 10-14. I like it using it over two stitches on linen, because linen is softer and has a bit more room for the thread. It also pops because of both the color and the size (it’s more akin to 4 strands of embroidery floss). The raised effect is useful for my project, and the variegation makes it fun to watch while I stitch. Edit: now that I’ve worked with it more, it is less prone to break. - Unraveling technique (?) - Instead of unraveling my next skein, I opened it gently and cut into one of the sections. I laid it out and picked up threads from the center, holding one end and then pulling that end, and repeating on the other side. (See pictures.) The strands are very long and may be too long for some people, either arm-wise or stitch-wise; I “like” long strands when working with variegated floss for color reasons, but it can definitely be knotty and frustrating (like any long thread, not just this one). It takes a sort of delicate hand, but I found this far less frustrating; it still took about 30 minutes, and my arm motions reminded me of fishmongers, but I wasn’t cursing myself the whole time. You end up with a very fat bobbin, but even a cardboard bobbin held all of it. ... show more

  • WIND YOUR THREAD
This thread is lovely. It’s not quite as saturated as the pictures but still quite bright and pretty and for a great price to boot. Like many threads or yarns sold in skeins, you MUST trim away the knot and CAREFULLY SLIDE THE SKEIN OVER SOMETHING (like a book, your knee etc.) so that you can begin winding it without tangling it. If you do not keep the skein oriented around something while you wind (or not wind it at all), it will absolutely become a tangled mess. ... show more

  • 100% Satisfaction
I've recently become fascinated with Sashiko and have finished several small pieces that I really like. I had saved one of my Sashiko patterns because it was my favorite and I wanted to do something different with it. When I saw this thread I fell in love with the colors and knew it was what I had been waiting for. I'm just a few stitches away from being finished with this piece and it's my favorite so far. The thread is just the right thickness, sews beautifully without tangling and the graduated colors really make my handiwork shine. I'll very likely buy it again. ... show more

  • Nice colors and value for my craft work
The cotton floss is not glossy. Each skein is also the same variation of colors. they are nice rainbow colors and serve well for the work I am doing as a beginner embroiderer and maker of friendship bracelets.

  • Good for more than just sashiko
This was my first time using this brand of sashiko thread. I was pleased with how it held up, and the colors were very good. I'll be using more in the future.

  • Pretty colors but fibers break apart
Pretty colors but the fibers break too easily. I tested out thinning out the thread and the fibers just broke too much. I continued in sewing with the entire thread (embroidery work) and the threads unravel as you reach the end and then break off. Did a machine wash and dry and it did hold up though. We'll just gave to see how it holds after multiple washes. Wouldn't buy this again as the work I do is intense and I want it to last. Ourchased this because I was in a hurry and didn't have the option to hit the stores. ... show more
