There are literally dozens of similar locks on Amazon and other sites and you will find something negative about all of them, but for the money, this lock is solid and does the job. I think that when looking for a lock to secure your motorcycle, it really depends on where you are parking it and how at risk you are of it being stolen. I park my motorcycle in front of our house and in front of one of our cars, so getting it out is a chore in itself. For my situation, this lock suits my needs and the bright yellow color is a deterrent in itself. The alarm is loud enough to draw attention and installation/removal is simple. The only negative thing I have to say is that I don't like how the alarm chirps as soon as the key touches it. And if you take too long to unlock it, like when it's dark, the alarm WILL go off, which is annoying. Otherwise, I like it! ... show more

I've owned and used this lock for an entire riding season. Its batteries have lasted that long, and have shown no indication of running out. It's small but heavy, and my god is it sensitive. Maybe that's the only thing I dislike about it is how oversensitive it can be- if I know it'll rain, I'll make sure to put it on the back wheel instead of the front wheel, because if the rain hits it, it will go off. It's been very sturdy, and I find I don't use the cable it comes with. It's so sensitive that if you even start opening up the tail bag casually instead of carefully, it'll beep at you. I live in an area where there are people around all the time, so I use it as more of a 'pay attention to me, I'm getting stolen!!' alarm than an actual theft deterrent. When I sleep, I leave my window cracked open. If anyone touches the bike, even the neighbor's cat, it'll chirp and I'll know to listen to see if it goes into full scream-mode. The alarm itself is pretty loud and piercing. It does hurt my ears up close, and it's *very* noticeable even several hundred feet away. (Definitely wakes me up at night when it rains and I forget to move it to the sheltered brake rotor on the back wheel!) Pros: -small, easy to store -very durable -loud -battery lasts long -water and weather resistant/proof -direction of unlocking twist (clockwise) means that if you mount it right, it's easier to unlock without going off Cons: -Can be oversensitive -Goes off in the rain -lock mechanism is beginning to get a bit stiff after one year of weather-induced neglect Would I buy it again? A good product, does what it’s designed to do: locking through a disc brake. Feels very durable and surprisingly hefty for its handheld size. Alarm is INCREDIBLY loud, and also very sensitive. Accidentally activated it while holding it and the sound is ear piercing. Can only imagine what some thief would think hearing that while trying to steal your bike. The sensor on the alarm is a waste of time. Mine was going off without any reason. Once it was put in the lock mode the alarm would just go - even when placed on a pillow in a closed room. Since I cannot return it( I live on a small island outside of the U.S.) I just pulled the batteries and use the lock as a lock with no alarm. Compact, easy to use, loud, and a good deterrent, just way too sensitive to be useable. The slightest movement sets it off, usually the wind. I don't use it because I dont want to annoy the neighbors.
