I returned this item. Partially my fault for not looking closely enough at the picture. I needed set up "blocks" to set heights on table saw and router table. Most of the sets I looked at seemed grossly over priced. This one didn't have as many blocks, but it had the sizes I use the most, and the price seemed fair. When I received it, 2 of the "blocks" are actually cylinder shaped. To be honest, I'm not sure when or why I would ever need one of those. I do know that they are useless for setting blade depth or fence width. It was only after I received them that I looked at the picture more closely. So my review is not on quality or deceptive advertising. More on the fact that this seems like a mixed set of tools. Part of the set is good for some things, and part of the set is for other applications. The blocks that are "blocks" are fine. But the 2 cylinders are sizes that I also need "blocks" for. ... show more

So its hard to screw up aluminum blocks, but somehow they did - more or less. The blocks say 2-1/2" but they are actually 3" long. See photo. Beyond me how such a thing is possible to screw up. That said, the thicknesses seem to be accurate enough. Oddly, there is 1/2" cylinder and a 10mm cylinder. Go figure. Probably these blocks were just jammed through without even reprogramming the engraving tool to write 3" instead of 2-1/2 and they had some spare 10mm stock they had to use.. Nobody cares because why bother. People like me will buy it anyway and maybe not return it. They are adequate for setting up saws etc. so I'll keep them. But so stupid that 3" block say 2-1/2. Just have to shake your head because 1/2 the stuff you get these days is like this. ... show more

These setup blocks arrived clean, straight, (mostly) properly sized and well marked. Out of the box they should be useful for the stated purposes (e.g. saw blade height, router bit height, drill depth). It's hard to do any sort of meaningful tests with these. I placed my calipers on them and found they were well within expectations for their intended uses. Every bar was essentially spot on except the 1/2" cylinder which consistently measured about 0.05" under. It's good that the markings are etched into the surface. They'll last a lot longer. It's not clear to me why a 10mm cylinder is included in a set that is otherwise standard measure. It would be more useful to have a 3/8" cylinder. The case is not the best design. It will hold the bars in place for sure. To some extent that's the problem for the smaller bars, in particular the 1/8". It was buried so far in the protective foam that I had to gently pry it out with a pair of needle nose pliers. The foam is too tight and the bar can sink too low. Without special attention it will be possible to return it to this difficult buried state after using it. These will get used. I'll take care with the placement of the 1/8" bar in the case. Nice, well made and useful. Why only 4 stars? The 1/8" block was missing! The second image shows how I use the blocks to make a 1/2" depth of cut on my table saw. These are equally helpful for setting the miter fence a precise distance from the blade. In combination with a standard 1-2-3 block, I can easily set most height and width adjustments that I need for my saw. Also, I can set a precise depth adjustment for my plunge router. Each block, including the cylindrical rods, includes an inch/fractional scale for quick measurements or setup. These can be quicker than having to bring out another tool. ... show more

I just used the set up block this weekend and it worked great. I got a "Perfect" cut on the hard wood, in using my table saw. It did the job., the large white numbers on the blue blocks made it easy to read, I didn't need to wear my presricption glasses, just my safety glasses.

They seem to be of good quality. I like the plastic container that they came in. It’s see through. Like glass. They’re blue. Not too light…not too dark. Just a perfect shade of blue. They’re aluminum. I like aluminum. Nice and light.
