I recently decided to purchase new travel mugs.After reading several reviews of different travel mugs I decided to purchase two, determine which one I liked best and use it for vacation travels.The other would be used at home during yard-shop work. I purchased the Contigo (16 oz) and the Yeti (20 oz) travel mug.I heated a pan of water to boiling point, waited a few seconds, then poured exactly one cup of very hot water into each mug.Very briefly checked each water temperature with a laboratory grade thermometer to be sure water temperature was the same in both mugs and closed the tops. After three hours rechecked the temperatures. The Contigo was 134 F. and the Yeti was 140 F., both "semi-hot" for coffee. I like the top and drink stopper of the Yeti better than the Contigo, my bias.Both leak a little if placed on their side.The Contigo fits my car (Chevy Traverse) cup holder better than the Yeti.Happy with both. ... show more

Best tumbler for holding hot liquids all day long compared to any other on the market! This definitely distinguishes YETI cups from any other available. I’ve owned many Yeti Rambler tumblers (20 oz. size my favorite) to drink my coffee or tea from every day. It’s the only brand that will hold in the heat for hr. after hr. after hr. I’ve often forgotten to finish my cup at day’s end, when I find it and go to wash it my coffee mixed with milk will still be hot enough to finish. I’m amazed each time at how well the Yeti brand has kept in the heat! I’ve definitely gotten what I’ve paid for each and every one. Also, I use mine in the dishwasher and have never had a problem with the lids cracking as I’ve seen some mention. I’ve used them for years w/o a cracked lid problem so have a difficult time relating to those complaints. Are you stepping on or dropping them from a high elevation? I drop mine frequently w/o incident. I have had part of the slider magnet come loose after years of use but that’s only happened on 2 out of 10. I own several other YETI cups, they are well made and use a patent system that allows either hot or cold drinks to stay warm or cold. Make no mistake if you’ve owned cheaper versions that look the same then use YETI you will understand why they are better. I replaced my older version with this one after I dented it up from constantly dropping it…It looked ugly but still worked… Keep in mind the cover has a rubber seal around the plastic top and these tend to get fouled up with drink residue from coffee…they have to be removed and cleaned periodically but they also stretch out over time which causes the cup to leak over time. YETI needs to offer replacement seal rings for their cups but so far I haven’t found any. Great product though and I highly recommend it ... show more

I bought this after seeing a friends’ and measuring it to be sure I could brew directly into it from my Keurig machine. It keeps my coffee hot for a long time-haven’t tried to tell how long because I finish the coffee before it has a chance to get cold. In fact it works so well I frequently add an ice cube so I can drink it without burning my mouth or waiting a long time for it to cool. I admired my sister's Yeti cup and figured I'd get one for myself. I got the aqua one (and my sister got me the purple one for my birthday!!!), and I couldn't be more pleased. I'd asked my sister if it was really better than all the knock-offs, and she insisted that it is. I agree! The one feature that I particularly appreciate with this cup--which I did not have with my other versions--is the magnetic slide closure on the top. Some cup lids are so hard to clean--you can see mold forming in the hardest to reach spots. But not with this cup!! You just remove the magnetic piece, and you can easily clean the lid.
