I had high hopes for the YETI Hopper Flip 12 Soft Cooler, especially given the brand's reputation for quality and durability. While it does offer some solid features, there are definitely a few shortcomings that make me question whether it’s worth the steep price tag. First off, let's talk about the price. The YETI Hopper Flip 12 is significantly more expensive than other soft coolers on the market, and I expected top-tier performance in return. While it does keep things cold for extended periods, I feel that other coolers in the same size range can offer similar performance for a much lower cost. For nearly $300, I was hoping for perfection, but it just doesn’t justify the price when you factor in the issues I encountered. On the plus side, the cooler is very portable, and the design is sleek. The shoulder strap makes it easy to carry, and it’s great for short trips or day outings. The material feels tough and rugged, which I appreciate for durability. It can hold a decent number of drinks and snacks, and it fits well in the car, so overall, it’s functional. However, one of the biggest issues I faced was the zipper. After just a few uses, the zipper started to struggle. It’s tough to open and close at times, and it feels like it could break if forced too much. For such an expensive cooler, I was expecting a more reliable and smooth zipper experience. This was disappointing and really lowered my confidence in the overall quality. Another downside is the cooler’s lack of external pockets. While the inside is spacious, there’s nowhere to store small items like keys or phone chargers. It’s not a dealbreaker, but for the price, I would’ve liked to see some added convenience features. As far as cooling performance goes, it does hold ice for a reasonable amount of time, though it’s not as impressive as I had hoped. After a full day in the sun, the ice had mostly melted, and the cooler didn’t quite keep things as cold as I anticipated. Overall, the YETI Hopper Flip 12 is a good cooler, but it doesn’t live up to the hype or the hefty price tag. While it does the job of keeping things cool and is convenient to carry, the zipper issues and high cost make it difficult to justify for most people.
