At one point I took out carrots and they went from cool to frozen despite being in the cooler for 5 hrs with nothing but a large ice pack. I love brands like Yeti. Expensive but you know it’s going to last for a very long time, can take a beating and it is going to do exactly what it is supposed to 90% of the time. Just as described my daughter loves the color. The one thing I would have is an exterior pocket, but it’s really not a big deal. The Seller did mess up originally and send me a green Yeti lunchbox. Locally the Team at Amazon was willing to refund me and credit me so I can re-purchase and receive the hopper I originally ordered so I didn’t have to wait for them to receive it and verify it and possibly argue with them again as to why I was returning a lunchbox and not a hopper. ... show more

I purchased the YETI Hopper Flip 12 Portable Cooler in Black, and I could not be happier with it. This all-black color seems to have been discontinued, so it was extremely difficult to find this exact size and color combination. After going to a minimum of 7 different physicial stores, I finally decided to try my luck online. I was stoked when I found it on Amazon, although I was nervous to spend this kind of money on a supplier I was unfamilar with but I took a shot anyway as my hubby really wanted this color specifically. My hubby is a pilot and is often gone on trips for up to five days at a time, so he needs a cooler that can truly keep food cold or frozen without the risk of everything defrosting too quickly and spoiling. This cooler has performed beyond our expectations. It fits perfectly on top of his pilot roller bag/carry-on, which makes it easy for him to travel with the cooler & his personal bag. The size is also ideal. It fits six 2-cup glass Pyrex storage containers, along with ice packs on both the top and bottom, without having to stretch the zipper, seams, or body of the bag. Everything stays frozen for nearly the entire trip, even on trips lasting up to five days. The supplier was also excellent. I got this for my wife since she loved my Roadie 15 but wanted something alittle smaller. She loves it no more fighting to put her lunch in the fridge she can put in on a shelf and it stays cold all day. We got lucky and got a great deal on due to the discontinued color (which is loud) so that was a score! Disappointed. Overpriced. Paying top dollar for the name. Disappointed with ice retention. I have purchased a pelican 14 hard chest. Half the cost and satisfied. The pelican even has a top tray for keeping items dry. Added a two pound ice pack plus the ice I add and keeps my drinks cold, lunch items in the top tray cold, other items dray.
