It’s DOT rated but falls between shop helmet and novelty helmet in terms of bulky and awkward. It’s heavier than a novelty helmet but not as bulky as a shop helmet. Basically, a novelty helmet has very little padding so the shell is smaller ( looks good but provides little protection). The shop helmets have more padding, so the shell is larger. So an XL shop helmet looks huge on your head like a huge mushroom. This helmet falls between the 2, so it looks good while still protecting your head! ... show more

The helmet is nice and light. It appears that the finish is good. However, there's absolutely NO WAY it is an XXL. My big bucket head requires a big bucket helmet. This thing isn't even close to fitting. There is no marking on the helmet anywhere that says what size it is. The box label indicated XXL, but the helmet is not that big. I wanted to like this helmet. It's exactly the same color as my Harley and the perfect look, BUT they didn't design it for a typically shaped head. It'll be great if your head is more round. It was too tight on the front and back at my standard L helmet size and when I sized up it was too loose on the sides. The chin strap sits too far deep in your throat and as the wind hits you, the helmet moves back on your head till it sits like a bonnet. I can't recommend it, unfortunately. ... show more
