Very happy with this winch! The materials feel very good and seem to be pretty good quality. No doubt it will get me out of a jam come winter when vehicles start sliding off the road in my area. Pretty easy to use. Functions very well.

I occasionally need to move some heavy equipment around the shop so thought this come-along would be useful. It's pretty beefy equipment. The steel cable is thicker than any other steel cable I had lying around. Also comes with a pulley at one end for additional mechanical advantage. Watch out for pinch points. This should more than suffice for my needs.

I recently lost a tree sized limb in my old maple tree during a storm. The limb likely weighed about 1000 pounds or more and was lodged on the ground and trapped in other branches leaning against the tree. I needed to get it down and this winch did the trick. Using straps and long chain, I connected the limb to this winch and used the two supplied lifting straps around a nearby tree to create an anchor point. The winch provided plenty of pulling power, likely over 2000 pounds and efficiently pulled the limb to the ground. The supplied cable is just under ten feet long which is fine for short-height lifting or short-distance pulling but expect to also supply your own chain or straps for many jobs. The winch is rated for 5 tons and I can't say I approached the rated 5-ton lift but it did a great job for my one-ton job. The 8 foot lifting straps are each rated at 4000 pounds will come in handy when pulling logs, as anchor straps and when lifting odd shaped objects. Bottom Line: Well-made double pawl winch that worked well in practice. One feature that's missing is that there is no reverse ratcheting release system. If there's weight on winch and it needs released I have to pull on the lever while simultaneously pressing the pawl release lever and lower it a notch at a time. I'd like to see a simpler release feature on a winch with this weight rating. Otherwise, I can easily recommend it.
