I wasn't sure if this was going to be flexible enough to wrap around my dog cage. I was using the cage for growing tomatoes since we have a lot of squirrels where I live, but the critters easily got through the holes. I decided to line the outside with this 1/4" mesh. The word "cloth" is deceiving. This is strong stuff, but at the same time, it IS flexible! I covered the cage with the hardware cloth and secured the strips with zip ties. No chance even those dinky ground squirrels can get in now. No worries, the bees can still get through the 1/4" squares to pollinate the tomatoes, and I can help by shaking the plants a little. Squirrels cannot chew through this steel hardware cloth! Great purchase! BTW, it cuts like butter with "Crescent Wiss 9-3/4 Inch MetalMaster Compound Action Snips - Straight, Left and Right Cut - M3R " purchased on Amazon. P.S. At my new house I'm going to surround my entire vegetable garden with this stuff, including the top. No more critter issues.

This wire mesh was one of several types we purchased to build a new a chicken enclosure. We are using several types of wire in a concerted effort to make this area raccoon proof. This wire mesh is quite sturdily made and handled exactly as we expected it would. The welding of the product is complete and well done so I have no worries about it holding up to years of use. It cuts easily with shears and was used for the inside layer of the enclosure walls. The holes are small enough that even baby birds can not escape. We have used a heavier material for the outer wall which is separated from the smaller one by a few inches and will keep any predator away from the birds. Kind of a cage within a cage. Be aware that the wire is quite rough and should be handled using heavy gloves. W are very happy with the finished product it helped create and would recommend it to anyone, we have found it to be a very good value.

I used this for a quail pen project and it's perfect for any size quail from newborn to adult. It's strong and "chew-proof" so your pet won't get through this wire. It's a smaller mesh but there is plenty of ventilation through it and since I have plenty left over I am putting it on another project as well. Product is very good and price is excellent (with FREE shipping), half what similar (1/2" mesh) products are locally. (This size, 1/4", was not available locally except in small sizes/quantities anyway.) There are sporadic, occasional manufacturing defects but they are of little consequence considering the use -keeping rodents at bay in the garden- this product is intended for. If you were creating an art project maybe you'd look for better quality -maybe SS at 25X the price- otherwise this product works and is easy to work with. 23 ga. is light and flexible and cuts easily; we built plant "cages" to keep the critters at bay. I used SS wire I had around but twist ties or cable wraps would work as well. WEAR LEATHER GLOVES, this stuff will tear your hands up! 4-1/2 stars. I used this hardware cloth to line the bottom of large DIY wooden bamboo planters and to line a water feature basin in my yard to prevent leaves from entering the water. I bought this particular hardware cloth because it was the best value I could find an Amazon. It ended up being easy enough to work with considering that it's rolled up metal. I recommend unrolling sections larger than what you need and bending it straight before use. I simply used some tin snips to cut and I was ready to rock n' roll. The mesh has been installed in my yard for several rainy months now (Pacific Northwest) and there's no hint of rust or degradation. I will update if I find otherwise. Here in Arizona our community is overrun by cottontails, and as the little bit of grass that was here is being turned to gravel landscaping and artificial turf, the rabbits are eating everything but the cactus. I found this wire on Amazon and decided to try it. It arrived promptly and is less costly than the local offerings. I have made cages that protect my smaller plants and they are working well. The wire is easy to cut and form and retains its shape. I will buy again if I need more.
