This wire mesh was one of several types we purchased to build a new a chicken enclosure. We are using several types of wire in a concerted effort to make this area raccoon proof. This wire mesh is quite sturdily made and handled exactly as we expected it would. The welding of the product is complete and well done so I have no worries about it holding up to years of use. It cuts easily with shears and was used for the inside layer of the enclosure walls. The holes are small enough that even baby birds can not escape. We have used a heavier material for the outer wall which is separated from the smaller one by a few inches and will keep any predator away from the birds. Kind of a cage within a cage. Be aware that the wire is quite rough and should be handled using heavy gloves. W are very happy with the finished product it helped create and would recommend it to anyone, we have found it to be a very good value. ... show more

I got this screen to use as gopher protection under my new raised garden beds. It is nice and thick and I expect it should keep my garden beds protected for many years. I just attached it to the bottom edge of the beds with a staple gun. It is nice and thick, but also cut fairly easily with tin snips. One word of advice, be sure to wear good work gloves because the screen is stiff with sharp edges, making it easy to get lots of cuts and scrapes when you are working with it. Decent product. Bought 3 rolls for blocking barn swallows from invading a dock and culvert covers. Sharp edges like everybody warns, but that is the nature of the product. Seems a little light gauge, but reasonable. Had one issue, a wire came off when using a section for sifting gravel. All the individual welds on one wire started giving way. Should not do that unless there is a manufacturing issue. Would use again, bought more for future uses. Using metal shears to cut without problems. Cheaper and easier to get than at a big box store. Recommend. Might get 19 gauge if available. ... show more

Product is very good and price is excellent (with FREE shipping), half what similar (1/2" mesh) products are locally. (This size, 1/4", was not available locally except in small sizes/quantities anyway.) There are sporadic, occasional manufacturing defects but they are of little consequence considering the use -keeping rodents at bay in the garden- this product is intended for. If you were creating an art project maybe you'd look for better quality -maybe SS at 25X the price- otherwise this product works and is easy to work with. 23 ga. is light and flexible and cuts easily; we built plant "cages" to keep the critters at bay. I used SS wire I had around but twist ties or cable wraps would work as well. WEAR LEATHER GLOVES, this stuff will tear your hands up! 4-1/2 stars. Pup got rattlesnake bit on the nose because he sticks it where it doesn’t belong. Our sheds (elevated on blocks) may be the culprit along with all my ground cover that I am now eliminating. This hardware cloth is a perfect solution to the open area under the shed. We cleared all grass around the shed, tacked this cloth along the bottom of the shed and then did a 90 degree turn along the ground. Used gravel to cover all the cloth on the ground. Looks great and will keep the snakes from hiding out under our sheds. After spending $1400 to save our pup this was a cost effective remedy. I may use the left over material to protect some plants from the bunnies. ... show more

I have a screen porch and it had lattice underneath. Well, rabbits and squirrels liked it too and decided to nest there. The lattice holes were big enough, so they could come and go as they pleased. I installed this mesh between the frame of the porch and the lattice. Painted it the same color and no more problems, It is strong enough to keep rabbits, squirrels and snakes away from under my porch.     • High value hardware cloth
I used this hardware cloth to line the bottom of large DIY wooden bamboo planters and to line a water feature basin in my yard to prevent leaves from entering the water. I bought this particular hardware cloth because it was the best value I could find an Amazon. It ended up being easy enough to work with considering that it's rolled up metal. I recommend unrolling sections larger than what you need and bending it straight before use. I simply used some tin snips to cut and I was ready to rock n' roll. The mesh has been installed in my yard for several rainy months now (Pacific Northwest) and there's no hint of rust or degradation. I will update if I find otherwise.
